Interviews: Bullet Ride
We have had the opportunity to interview the Metal band Bullet Ride from France. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Stephane (bass): It's often difficult to choose a band name that sounds good and that’s free.
Bullet Ride is good In Flames song and it sounds great with our style... it was obvious for
us!
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
Because we like it! We all have different favorite styles in Metal but we are in line for the metal we play: melodic, powerful, and angry.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
I met Manu (Vocals) and Alex (guitar) in the early 2000s. I played with Alex in Punishment
Divine from 2006 to 2008, and met Philippe (guitar) and Thibaut (drums) when they joined the
band.
4. Each band member's favourite band?
That’s not easy to answer ! But I would say: Metallica for Thibaut, Blind Guardian for Alex,
Megadeth for Philippe, Iron Maiden for Manu and Dark Tranquillity for me.
Manu (vocals): And I think that Stephane is not so far from reality … :)
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Manu: Most of my lyrics are inspired by my own life, by my interpretation of Life. It’s all an
illusion and we choose how to live the events that occur to us.
Our music allows me to experiment with the dark side of my emotions, without impacting my
real life. It is a great discharge. And it’s also a way to connect with something else,
something I can’t explain, something we all have inside and outside of us… perhaps that’s
what we call inspiration ? I am used to writing the lyrics and I would really realize the meaning some month later…
The lyrics of our 1st album “At The Gates of Hell” are somewhere between the real world
and the spiritual world.
6. Where was your last gig?
Stephane: Our last gig was in Mourenx, in the South of France in February 2020 … a long
time ago... We played with Crazy Hammer and The Hellectric Devilz, it was such a great
show.
7. Whom would you like to feature with?
All the bands we mentioned in the next eleventh question, but not only!
All the Metal bands who will invite us to play with them.
8. Whom not?
There is no particular band that we wouldn't like to share the stage with.
Not for the moment.
9. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat
that?
Stephane: Everyone suffers from stage fright during the first concerts, but for me, with time,
the stage fright has gone. A tip for beginners? Take the stage and perform! The more you
play, the less the jitters will be !
Manu: I systematically feel stage fright! But with the appropriate breathing exercises, you
can manage that.
For me, the stage fright depends on the event and show, and also on the band you play with.
Did you know that some centuries ago, the singers had less pressure on their shoulders? They
used to consider that if they sang well, it was because they were inspired by God, and if not,
just that God was not there…
Today, mentalities are not the same … we are more considered as machines… and we must
be performant, beautiful, thin, or muscular… Wrong notes are not allowed...
I overtook my stage right thanks to my bandmate, my friends. I consider that we are together
on stage with the same aim: to play and to feel the energy of our music. That was the clue for
me.
I would say to beginners that they must train, work a lot outside the stage, use appropriate
breathing techniques and, when they go on stage, just feel the instant, feel the energy of the
music and the band.
10. Which bands have inspired you the most?
Stephane: A lot of bands inspire us, but if we had to select some, they would be Iron Maiden,
Kreator, Arch Enemy, Blind Guardian, Death, Megadeth, Helloween, Unleash the archers,
Manowar, etc...
11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Manu: Nothing special at this time.
12. What do you think of your fans?
It’s always a pleasure to meet our fans. The ones we met after gigs were very respectuous
and benevolent. They really are interested in our art and universe, and they are waiting for
our 1st Album.
13. What do you think of our site?
Breathing the Core is a well-done site, it’s easy to find bands information, releases, media
and news. Your work is very important for the promotion of bands. We take the opportunity to
thank you for the interview and the support. We really appreciate it.
14. Something to add?
Of course some promotion. Our 1st Album “At the Gates of Hell” will be released in January 2022, and pre-sales will be
available from October 2021 at an attractive price.
Some gigs will be announced soon… stay tuned and come to see us !
