Interviews: CROWDOWN

We have had the opportunity to interview the Hardcore band CROWDOWN from Austria. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Maggo: I’m not sure if it’s just me but finding a band name that hasn’t already been used proves to be quite difficult nowadays. After looking for a while I finally got inspired by the name Crowsland from a viking series that I was watching at the time. This got me googling and led me to find a forest in England called Crowdown and I immediately thought... that´s it.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Maggo: I've almost exclusively stuck to singing in Death Metal bands as I enjoy producing music within this genre but I’m also a massive fan of Neo-Thrash, Hardcore and Crossover bands, e.g. Pantera, Terror, Downset, old Machine Head, Exploited, Rise Of The Northstar, and have wanted to create music by mixing all of these genres and influences for some time already.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Maggo: No, only Mattl and I knew each other as our paths had crossed a few times when we were playing in different bands. We then ‘adopted’ the rest of the band. First, we gave them a good clean and some schnitzel then handed them instruments and locked the door.

4. Each band member’s favourite band?

Maggo: Terror

Mattl: The Contortionist

Peter: Aborted

Pati: Misery Index

Bünni: Spite

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Maggo: I’ve been answering this question in interviews for my other band Mastic Scum for years: The daily grind!

6. Where was your last gig?

Maggo: Unfortunately, due to the pandemic we haven’t yet performed together at a live show, but we have plans to start in 2022 and are beyond excited to transfer our music from online to the crazy energy of a gig.

7. Where would you like to act?

Maggo: Wherever there is a great audience, food and beer. As you can see, we’ve got extremely high standards.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Maggo: Scott Vogel from Terror.

9. Whom not?

Maggo: DJ Ötzi

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Maggo: I used to feel quite anxious before concerts. Don’t get me wrong, I'm still fairly nervous these days, but I’ve learned to deal with it. If that feeling is ever completely gone, the joy and thrill of performing live are no longer there, I suppose. A bit of stage fright is part of it, it pushes you. Simply put, it’s just an incredible feeling experiencing the moment as the adrenaline rushes through your veins and the first note of the opening song hits.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Maggo: Speaking for myself, I’d say Pantera. This band lived through their music, whether on or off stage. What I mean is, is that they just came across as genuine in what they were doing and producing. In my opinion the raw energy and brutality in every riff Dimebag Darrel has produced is unmatched to this day.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Maggo: Except from offers that I just simply couldn't refuse, there weren't really any weird questions yet (laughs).

13. What do you think of your fans?

Maggo: Since we've only been around for a year, I don't think there are a lot of Crowdown fans out there yet. But we certainly are working tirelessly to hopefully change that soon.

14. What do you think of our site?

Maggo: It’s brilliant. I thoroughly enjoy seeing your passion and support for the metal scene, the comments speak for themselves. On behalf of Crowdown I’d like to express our gratitude to each and every magazine out there supporting us and especially Grand Sounds Promotion.

15. Something to add?

Maggo: Hmmm ... Yes, yes I would actually like to address my dog AMON: My dear and beloved dog, you bastard, please don't always throw up on the couch! The parquet flooring would be a lot easier to clean. Thank you for the interview. CHEERS!
