Interviews About Albums: Corruption Rising - Internal Damnation (2021)

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

Being our debut album, we really wanted to make sure we entered with a bang. A really strong first entry to our discography. We wanted every single track on this album to be able to stand alone as their own singles; being strong, heavy, powerful.. yet catchy and rhythmic. That's essentially what this album is; a collection of all our singles from our first year and a bit in the history of Corruption Rising. We really think we've done a good job of that for this album and have covered so many bases on sub-genres; from Groove, Thrash, Melodic Death, Progressive, and traditional Heavy Metal; with some additional Hard Rock influences. We're really proud of this album.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

Well, there is a common theme of this album; corruption, war, terror, scarcity; basically, the world closing in - mentally and also figuratively. Hence the album title "Internal Damnation".. seems fitting for the way most people may have been feeling during this crazy period in the history of the world. Damnation.... but it's not forever, it's not eternal; but mentally, in our heads; internal.

3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?

We both (Mark and Andrew) share the load 50/50. Whether it be writing, playing, and recording all of the instrument work, as well as producing, mixing/mastering production work; we both tackle it as a team. Mark is chief lyricist though, he has a process and it works for us.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

End Of Days. Seemed like the perfect way to close out the album. Has some old-school thrash metal vibes mixed with modern production stylings and is overall just a few solid minutes of mayhem. We love it!

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD?

If there is what it is? For metal and music fans alike; I suppose the message here hidden within is that "hey, we feel it too"... like, yes. The world is crazy, yes, times seem dark, yes; chaos seems to be at every corner... but "hey, we feel it too; listen to our lyrics and the theme of this album.. you're not alone... come and listen to some awesome music and feel a part of something bigger; and know that you're not alone. So let's talk about it, let's share... through song..through awesome, heavy metal music". I think that's the real message here. At Least that's how we would like it to be interpreted.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

"Lockdown/Shut Out; is there any hope, in this foreign world" - we think that this statement couldn't be truer in the crazy world that is today. It resonates and it's real. Hits home that line.

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album?

Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thanks especially? Musically; we both take inspiration from different genres and sub-genres of Metal and hard rock, but I think we've mainly just taken what we love most about our favorite artists, then created a point of difference by blending our influences together..to create something new, something unique, something that is purely just... well, Corruption Rising. It's special. It's us, it's our sound. Family and friends-wise; we'd love to thank our partners for putting up with us putting so many extra hours into this album outside of our standard day jobs! haha. Probably hearing the same songs played over and over again in the house, in the car...everywhere haha.

8. Something to add?

Thanks for taking the time for the interview and plugging this album, we really appreciate it! To all our fans, we thank you, we appreciate you and we hope you love this album as much as we do! Cheers to this one and many more to come!
