Behind The Artworks: Iscuron - The Pursuit Of Unhappiness (2021)

For the previous album I had chosen an existing painting that I felt was fitting with the atmosphere of the music. This time I decided to commission a bespoken illustration. Overall I wanted it to represent the vain boldness of humanity (represented by the proud sailor on the boat approaching the harbor) that is proud to reach new stages of their progress thinking that progress is a good thing by design. In reality we often land to unpleasant places (represented by the unfriendly village and dark monks waiting for the sailor) that just increase our unhappiness. This painting is also full of quotes of the lyrics of the album. I decided to work with Silvana Massa because she is also active in the Dungeon Synth space, a genre that I love and that I think has a similar atmospheric environment.
