Interviews: C.O.D.E
We have had the opportunity to interview the Alternative Rock band C.O.D.E from Greece. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Well, the name started as just CODE but then thought we liked the idea of it having a secondary meaning so
because of the whole transition to the digital age we came up with the name Culture Of Digital Elegance which of
course is also C.O.D.E.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
What genre?
Jokes aside, we actually never went for a particular genre as all of us in the band are influenced
from a variety of musical styles and just came up with a certain sound which is a blend of rock attitude with
electronic music elements and more. Generally, we experiment with different styles regardless of genre.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
We met during studies except Elias who joined the band later. In the beginning we had a more electronic style
with no natural drums so when we decided that we wanted a drummer, Elias was a great match as he has
influences not only from rock/metal music but also from electronic and hip-hop styles which is something we
incorporate in our music.
4. Each band member favourite band?
The classic scary question! One band…. OMG! Let’s just mention some bands that we like:
Vicky: A Perfect Circle, Muse, Nine Inch Nails, Skunk Anansie, Morcheeba
Yiannis: A Perfect Circle, Muse, Korn, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Leprous, Radiohead
Miltos: Infected Mushroom, Nine Inch Nails, A Perfect Circle
Elias: Jamiroquay, Royal Blood, Moby, Prodigy, Cypress Hill, Hatebreed, The Haunted
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Songwriting is something that as composers we do to express ourselves. It is something you just need to do.
Lyrically we have written songs about a lot of things such as social issues and of course personal experiences.
6. Where was your last gig?
It was in Athens, Greece at the Six Dogs venue.
7. Where would you like to act?
Wherever they will have us! No problems here except perhaps a small coffee house as we tend to get a bit loud
sometimes.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Well, our heroes would be a good choice, but in music magic appears when you least expect it, so it really
doesn’t matter.
9. Whom not?
Bands that are better than us and will make us look like crap. Haha!
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Anyone who says they are not even a bit nervous before a show, are lying. There are so many things that can go
wrong. The trick is to actually try to enjoy the show on stage and everything else sorts itself out.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
A Perfect Circle, Muse, Korn, Nine Inch Nails, Radiohead, System Of A Down, Infected Mushroom, Massive
Attack, Portishead, Hooverphonic, Prodigy, Leprous, Sevendust, Guano Apes to name a few.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
A nine-year-old girl asked Vicky for an autograph after one of our shows… Not exactly weird but definitely not
expected.
13. What do you think of your fans?
They must be as troubled as us! And we love them for that!
14. What do you think of our site?
It’s a great place to discover artists and new music. It has a nice layout too so you can easily find anything you
need!
15. Something to add?
Thank you for having us and for the support! It was a pleasure!
