Interviews: FOXHAUNT
We have had the opportunity to interview the Post-Hardcore band FOXHAUNT from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
I basically was playing around with a load of ideas for band names and thought a ‘fox’ style emblem would be cool. It’s evolved since and we just felt it was unique to standard band names you get in the post hardcore/alt rock scene. Standing out from the crowd is always something we’re trying to do.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
We all collectively love rock and metal, FOXHAUNT is kinda the halfway house between influences like Anberlin, Alexisonfire, Don Broco and Architects. We’re all massive fans of those bands and are heavily influenced by them, but I suppose our style bridges the gap.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
No! We actually used joinmyband.co.uk haha. Thom found me on there as I was looking for a new band after my previous one came to an end. He was mates with Jamie (drums) and then our old guitarist Hayden knew Nick from Leeds Music College. We recently became a 4 piece and the dynamic between us all is better than ever.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Thom - Anberlin
Jamie - A Day To Remember
Nick - While She Sleeps
Ollie - Architects
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Life basically, haha. We draw influence from everywhere though - it could be a specific moment, experience or even a relationship (past or present). Live music fuels the passion though and we try our best to implement that into our writing style - if it doesn’t sound good live then whats the point?
6. Where was your last gig?
Pre pandemic, supporting As Sirens Falls in Keighley. March 2019?!?!?!
7. Where would you like to play?
Reading and Leeds festival main stage
8. Who would you like to support?
Tough question, really vibing Don Broco at the moment and feel we’d warm the crowd up nicely for their show.
9. Who not?
Alexisonfire because I actually think we’d fanboy pretty hard over them and struggle to focus!
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
I’ve never suffered from it, but nerves are natural and you should embrace them to drive your performance. Be confident in yourself, easier said than done, but self-belief is all you need to put on an unforgettable show.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
For me personally, it’s Exit Ten, they were a band based in Reading who brought out tunes such as Resume Ignore and Technically Alive. I saw them at a small village hall and they blew my fucking mind - as soon as the show finished I said to my mate that we should start a band and things went from there!
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Hmmm, maybe for a picture but then they weren’t in it? They just wanted a picture of us together, that was quite strange. But I did make them get in it eventually, I think they were happy for that as well.
13. What do you think of your fans?
Literally, the most sickest, supportive, heartfelt people on the earth and we wouldn’t be able to keep doing what we’re doing without such a solid group of people. I think the previous 18 months has also made us realised that we do have something special going on.
14. What do you think of our site?
Love the fact that you support unsigned bands and are always pushing new artists into the scene. Without it the industry would be full of manufactured pop shite so thank god for you guys.
