Interviews: HEL'S THRONE
We have had the opportunity to interview the Symphonic Metal band HEL'S THRONE from Germany. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
The band's name was chosen from a long list of suggestions of all band members. At first the name
should be unique so we type all the names in Google and look if there is another band with the same
name. On the other side the name should be related to Nordic mythology and that’s it. If I am honest,
Hel's Throne was one of our favorites from the beginning. It perfectly fits to our music and the lyrics.
And now we can say we have found our “Hel” in our singer Bekka.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
This is not difficult to explain. Symphonic metal is what we like and what we always wanted to do.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Willy, Juergen and Zicke played together in a former band for many years and over the years we
played few shows together with the band Bekka and Schulle were a part of. We knew each other
before Hel’s Throne was planned and now we are very proud of this line-up.
Litzer: I should add that I didn’t know any one of the guys before but now I am very happy to be a part
of that great family.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Zicke: There is no special favorite band. I like all kinds of good rock and metal music but I prefer folk
and symphonic metal, Bands like Ensiferum, Turisas, Kamelot and of course Epica, Leaves Eyes and so
on.
Schulle: InFlames, Parkway Drive, Delain
Bekka: Perkele, Ska P
Litzer: This is a difficult question since there are a lot of great bands of different genres I listen to. I
always felt a great connection to Melodic Death Metal and everything which came from that direction.
Bands like In Flames, Children of Bodom or Soilwork should be mentioned. Symphonic influences from
Dimmu Borgir or Cradle of Filth are also as important for me as a lot of German bands from
Gothic: to
Alternative Metal like Janus or Such a Surge especially when it comes to lyrics and performance.
Willy: Judas Priest, Motörhead, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden
Juergen: Nightwish
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
The inspiration to write songs comes from ourselves. Of course the bands we like have a certain
influence on our music. But we don’t want to copy them. We want to find our own unique sound and I
think we have done it quite well. We like the nordic mythology stuff and so that is the main topic of our
songs
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gig was in October at the “Metal Night” in Treuenbrietzen. That is an annual gig in the
hometown of Zicke and Juergen and it was a blast.
7. Where would you like to act?
It is a big dream for every band to play the big festivals over europe like Wacken, Masters of Rock and
so on. In the next few years it would be great to play in as many countries as possible. And a special
thing is to play on those unique festivals like 70000 tons of metal or Full Metal Cruise.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
It would be a great pleasure acting together with the great bands in this genre like Nightwish, Epica.
And maybe there is a chance to share the stage with one or more of the all time famous bands like
Metallica, AC/DC. There are a lot of bands we like to play with.
9. Whom not?
Every band is welcome. We don’t have any prejudice towards other bands.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
We are excited before we´re playing live because every concert is a special event for us. But you can
not call it real stage fright.
tips for beginners: have fun, don’t worry too much and play like it could be your last gig
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
I think Nightwish, Delain, Epica, Amaranthe inspired us the most.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
After a gig a fan met our bass player and said: “Hey, could you imagine moving to Alaska with me?”
13. What do you think of your fans?
The ´are the greatest and the best fans in the world and without them we can’t do what we love
and this is being a band, writing songs and acting live on stage. A big thanks to all of them all around
the world.
14. What do you think of our site?
If we are honest we didn’t know your side before but it is great to see that you support so many bands
to get more attention in this business. Keep it up.
15. Something to add?
We would like to thank Carlo and WormholeDeath Records for their support and we are appreciated
for believing in our music.
