Interviews: Death In Paradise

We have had the opportunity to interview the Rock/Punk Rock band Death In Paradise from Portugal. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or come out just like that?

Much Like most of the creativity that happens, it just came... Observing the world we face today and going back to where I originate from...it's not always as wrapped up as it seems...Death in F*ckin' Paradise yes...

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

It's just the most natural and real way the songs and music come out really...

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

It really feels like we've known each other for years, things we connect on...they carry back us to as if we were brothers growing up...but only with my inception of getting members for the band together, we met..

4. Each band member favourite band?

Joel Beazer: Guns n Roses, Soundgarden

Anton Aatamila: Pantera, Rage Against the Machine

Luiz C.: Xutos and Pontapes, Slayer

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Each and every day....the source and songs are out there, in the great cosmic outflow....its really a matter of channeling.... sometimes there is an occurrence or something that affects me and if I can't sit and write what I feel or the inspiration right there and then ... I would try to hold onto the moment, the feeling or memory...and some just write themselves.

6. Where was your last gig?

Hard Rock Cafe, Lisbon, Portugal

7. Where would you like to perform?

At this point in time, we'd play in your backyard if we can (laughs) ...but without getting into name dropping, I'd say every great venue in the cities and every major Festival.

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

I think Alice in Chains would be F*ckin' badass, Opening for GNR, The Cult.....It would've been amazing to play with bands like Stone Temple Pilots and Soundgarden who aren't around anymore, unfortunately...

9. Whom not?

We'd play alongside anyone, but cheesy acts and way too manufactured Pop artists, like the crowd and us being there may not go over too well...so yes, No cheesy Pop shit.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Joel: I did once..when I was around 13..doing my first performance with my high school band, I was the singer, I had only just started playing guitar, so I was appointed vocalist position...I remember not being able to look into the crowd and forgetting entire verses of the songs (laughs)

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

The Sex Pistols, I don't think we can "classically" speaking, get more in your face than that...the attitude, man...Death in Paradise's bands that inspired us, well, it's all very eclectic, influentially speaking...from The Cult to A Perfect Circle to Deftones......if we can connect with a band's sound, attitude, approach...we dig it!

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

To be completely honest, an autograph..we really don't see ourselves, by any means, at this point "famous and successful" My drummer Anton told me on his last tour in Tokyo, sitting in for a punk band there...he couldn't believe how much he had to sign (laughs) that's the band's "starboy" ( it's an old Trinidadian slang)

13. What do you think of your fans?

Beautiful, We love them, we hold them close to our blackened and broken hearts.

14. What do you think of our site?

I love the way Breathing The Core is keeping it Real. I dig that..no bullshit. Keep flying the flag!

15. Something to add?

Thank you for having us today, don't forget to blast out loud the new single "Closer" , look out for more releases soon and the upcoming album "Sacrificing the Goat", we hope to see you at the shows, stay real and beautiful. Thanks again.
