Interviews: DELIBERATE MISCARRIAGE
We have had the opportunity to interview the Death Metal band DELIBERATE MISCARRIAGE from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or come out just like that?
Charlie: I've always like the snappiness of the "two word" approach; bands like Cannibal Corpse, Dying Fetus, Hideous Divinity, Blood Incantation. It's very clear the sort of music they make, and all roll off the tongue nicely. My Fiancé and I were spitballing some concepts, and ended up with Deliberate Miscarriage as the one we went with.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Charlie: having ben brought up on classic rock and jazz, death metal was the natural springboard for pushing musical boundaries, both in what I want to listen to, and pushing myself musically.
Adam: Charlie forced me into it really, though I was looking to challenge myself and play something new.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yes, we've been friends for a few years.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Adam: The Haunted
Charlie: Demilich
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
-
Charlie: hard to say really, inspiration just comes to me sometimes and I have to write down ideas. Otherwise, I'll be practicing and riffs will just come out of my fingers.
6. Where was your last gig?
We haven't played live yet. When we have a permanent drummer, we'll look to play some gigs.
7. Where would you like to act?
Charlie: It'd be great to play places far away, as we've both done the local scene a lot in other bands. I'd personally love to play Florida, the spiritual home of Death Metal.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Charlie: Cannibal Corpse would have to top this list, given I'm massively inspired by their music and their bassist Alex Webster. There's a load of sick bands across the scene that I imagine it would be cool to hang out with. I'd love to do a themed line up, like a "crimes against pregnancy tour" featuring Dying Fetus, Aborted, Stillbirth, and us.
9. Whom not?
Charlie: Obviously our music relies quite heavily on the tongue-in-cheek humour prevalent in some of the more extreme gore soaked death metal, so we probably wouldn't get on too well with bands with a serious message, or bands who try and make everything political etc.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Charlie: I've been playing with groups in some form or another since I was 10, so it's never really been anything I've had to worry about. I'd recommend practicing in front of a mirror, or recording yourself to check your posture, or practice looking towards the audience. There's nothing like the experience of seeing people in the audience enjoying what you're doing.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Charlie: Cannibal Corpse, Death, Obituary, Pestilence, Demilich, and Necrophagist certainly inspire the music. I've got so much time for bands who are down to earth and like to meet the fans at shows, like Aborted, Cattle Decapitation, Nile, Cryptopsy - the guys in those bands are at the absolute pinnacle of music, but usually make the effort to come chat with people. That's what it's all gotta be about.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Charlie: nothing really yet.
13. What do you think of your fans?
We really appreciate them, and hope they spread their good taste with others!
14. What do you think of our site?
It's a good idea, a lot of passion clearly goes into the project.
15. Something to add?
Thanks for having us!
