Interviews: NOT MY GRAVE

We have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore/Alternative Metal band NOT MY GRAVE from Italy. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or come out just like that?

Because our project came to life just before the pandemic, we wanted our name to be a reminder that this catastrophic global event has been more of a birth for us and "not our grave".

2. You describe your style as alternative metal. Can you explain to us your idea about this type of music and which artist is the best example for you in terms of alt-metal?

We all instantly agreed in choosing this genre as it best suits our individual style and gives each of us the deepest range of self-expression as composers and as live performers. We all constantly listen to artists as Bring Me The Horizon, Architects, Falling In Reverse, Bad Omens, Imminence and Asking Alexandria.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Tell us something about the idea to create a new project together. Luca, Nicola and Tommaso all came from a previous band and when they met Francesco and Nicolò it was an opportunity to start a new path, share and work on new ideas and in the meanwhile know each other. Our goal is to create a strong group where every final choice reflects the will of all members whether on composition or the chance to pack our bags and leave to play worldwide.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Luca = Linkin Park

Tommaso = Avenged Sevenfold

Francesco = Ed Sheeran

Nicola = Architects

Nicoló = Killswitch Engage

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

All the bands quoted are surely a great inspiration for our music, but most of all are our everyday experiences, what we see, hear, feel, and what we want to share with our public. 

6. Where was your last show?

We, unfortunately, haven't had the chance to play a live show yet but we can't wait to take the stage tremble.

7. Where would you like to act and if you have the opportunity to be the opener act of a famous band, who is your first name?

The Vans Warped Tour and Rock Am Ring are some of our dreams and we would love to play alongside groups as Bad Omens, BMTH, or Architects.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Guess one of our dreams would be a featuring with BMTH.

9. Whom not?

We wouldn't like to make one with someone well outside our musical taste.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

It's hard to give an answer because we never really played live together, but each of us already played live on our own and none of us fears the stage. To achieve this though it's important to create a strong bond among the band where you can trust each other as a point of reference anytime.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

BMTH, Architects, After The Burial, Killswitch Engage, Linkin Park, Normandie, Periphery, Falling In Reverse, and more.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Once a fan asked on our official video of “Fault” if the members of the band were the girls...

We are ready, here and now, we are "Not My Grave" and we can't wait to perform live and share with you what we love most.
