Interviews: Wretched Tongues

We have had the opportunity to interview the Deathcore band Wretched Tongues from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or come out just like that?

A: The band name sort of derived from a few different things; We were aiming to make something semi-repulsive without it being too over the top when fans would need a dictionary just to figure out what our name meant or is. It is fairly open ended in our opinion-it can be interpreted a few different way. The ever-so-common phrase of "Speaking in tongues" when possessed was also an idea that floated around with us in the making of.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

A: Deathcore and all of its various forms is just so aggressive, or technical and bone-crushing heavy that it's hard not to get sucked into it. Deathcore can and does have the best of all forms of heavy music combined into one, and we wanted in on that.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

A: I think we all knew of each other but no not really prior. I believe Josh and Brad are the only ones that actually knew each other outside of the band.

4. Each band member's favourite band?

A: Brand of Sacrifice, Oceano, Slaughter to Prevail, Osiah, Bodysnatcher and Signs of the Swarm are all collectively our favorites.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

A: Our music comes from so many places, its hard to pinpoint its actual origination. We all share common ground on music taste, playing preferences, and general ideologies about life, people and etc. that at this point it's almost just natural.

6. Where was your last gig?

A: Our last show was January of 2019 in our hometown, at a venue called Jewel Nightclub here in Manchester, NH (USA)

7. Where would you like to act?

A: Honestly don't know where to even start that long list! Playing in other countries would be incredible. At least would like to hit the entirety of the United States eventually.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

A: Would love to play shows alongside Angelmaker, Signs of the Swarm, Ingested, and Brand of Sacrifice again. Maybe tour with some of them!

9. Whom not?

A: Wretched Tongues.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

A: So our drummer Matty actually does have fairly bad stage fright-just dont look at the crowd!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

A: Oceano, Whitechapel, Suicide Silence, Brand of Sacrifice, Bodysnatcher, Signs of the Swarm, Osiah, Humanity's Last Breath- really the list goes on and on.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

A: For us to use our Wretched Tongue on them. I don't know, metal fans are weird.

13. What do you think of your fans?

A: We love them so much. For a band our size to get some of the recognition and opportunities we have has been such a surreal feeling. Knowing people in other countries are wearing our merch or have our physical cd's is such an unexplainable feeling. Were so humbled.

14. What do you think of our site?

A: We love it! 10/10 recommended.

A: We have one hell of an album coming to people in March, and hopefully you guys enjoy it!
