Interviews About Albums: Kingseeker - Daily Reminders (2022)
1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?
Jan: This CD/album is the culmination of three years of sporadic writing. It in many ways represents aspects of all three of us. Jan, with his self doubt and grief, Aaron with his ptsd and anxiety, and Emil's feeling of isolation and burn out.
Hopefully it is written in a way where people can insert themselves into the songs both musically and lyrically so that they might have a completely different meaning to them.
It has kick-ass songs, sad songs, angry songs, happy songs and songs you just wanna mosh to.
2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?
Jan: We chose the title "Daily Reminders" because we felt it encapsulated what the albums main themes is about. Depression, Anxiety, Isolation.
Everyone has something they remind themselves of daily.
For me (Jan) that's the memory of my late older brother, and how his memory reminds me to cherish every moment with my loved ones.
For Aron it's his anxiety and bi-polar disorder and reminding himself to allow himself to feel what he's feeling.
For Emil his feeling of not being good enough and due to his not so stellar upbringing.
3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?
Emil and Aron composed 90% of the album, while Jan was the boss on one song. Lyrically it's Jan that's the main guy, with simple word changes here and there from Aron and Emil (Which is rare cause Jan is really soft skinned when it comes being critiqued on his lyrics)
4. If you have to pick one song, which one would you pick?
Jan: Flowered Waterfalls, it's the angriest song on the album in my opinion.
Aaron: Umbra, because it's the best song I've ever written with that bouncy kind of vibe.
Emil: A Life You Neglected, because the way it was written, makes Jan's vocals really shine.
5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?
I'd say that the message that I want to come across is on, of positivity, and learning to accept who you are and to make the most out of the time we have.
In short; Bad Vibes Are Cancelled.
6. Are there some lyrics that you´d love to share?
Jan: The song "Broder"
Sad attempts at comedy fill the empty conversations
A grey cloud attaches to every word
A constant fight to keep the tears from flowing
This whole thing is fucked and absurd
Having them all here helps me ease the inner tension
And helps me shove away the overwhelming regret
I wasn't there in your final moments
I hope wherever you are you found peace
I hope you found peace
Though we all wonder "why?"
A tear may wet
And moisten the feeling
I still see your face
when I'm dreaming
I'm hanging on by threads
But I'm reeling
I cry when I'm alone
But I'm healing
Empathetically they all ask the same fucking questions
Swallowing the sorrow I always answer the same
A broken record repeating the same line
"it's all okay, no really I'm fine"
All of their compassions are filled with sweet words
But why do they give me such bitter taste
Their eyes are filled with such amounts of pity
I turn around and their questions come
Their questions come,
I need some time.
A tear may wet
And moisten the feeling
I still see your face
when I'm dreaming
I'm hanging on by threads
But I'm reeling
I cry when I'm alone
But I'm healing
Melancholy, misery, heartbreak and heartache
Hopelessness, grief and sorrow all of them the same thing
I'd trade all I have and more for one more minute
To say I'm sorry and for one last embrace
All this torment
And the tears that you brought on
Will help make me more prepared
For what lies next
Know I miss you
More than these word can describe
All this torment
And the tears that you brought on
Will help make me more prepared
For what lies next
Know I miss you
More than these word can describe
More than this.
7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thanks especially?
Each band member brings their own musical flavour to the table, but there is of course some common denominators between members.
Common denominators would be bands such as Architects, Bring Me The Horizon, In Flames, Knocked Loose etc etc.
Individually:
Emil: 2000s alternative rock/metal and proggy stuff, he loves listening to Elektronica, EDM and Ambient.
Aaron: Death Metal, Deathcore and those kinds of bands.
Jan: 2000's metalcore, Hardcore, screamo and mathcore.
Friendswise the people around us in bands that seem to be going places, really make us want to follow suit. Bands like Frostbitt, Halcyon Days, Atena, Anchors, Beyond The Barricades, Naga Siren, Fixation and Navian to name a few.
