Interviews: EVERLUST
We have had the opportunity to interview the Gothic Rock/Melodic Metal band EVERLUST from Latvia. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or come out just like that?
I decided on the band’s name in 2006, so it's kinda hard to remember how exactly it was. But I’ve always liked the
word "lust" and , in my opinion, it doesn’t have negative connotations. For me it’s more like the source of
inspiration, something to get you moving ahead as one of the main human instincts. So I put the word "ever" in
front of it and I knew that this is it.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
I’ve always liked gothic bands, especially female-fronted ones. Theatre of Tragedy, Sirenia, Lacuna Coil. They’re
melodic and atmospheric but heavy at the same time that create contrast with female vocals combined with the
beauty of darkness. I love it.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Pavel and Max worked together.
4. Each band member favourite band?
We can't choose one from our many favourites, let it be three.
Vlad: Theatre of Tragedy, Sentenced, Paradise Lost
Max: Nightwish, Pink Floyd, Metallica
Kate: Chris Cornell, Billy Idol, Pink Floyd
Alex: Yousei Teikoku, Lacuna Coil, Motanka
Pavel has no favourite bands, but listens to what he feels like today
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Mostly the life itself and everything that happens to me. Also the music I listen to.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gig was a mini-festival in Latvia called Bruzis.
7. Where would you like to act?
We would love to play at a big festival like Wacken or Download or something more specific for us like Gothic
Tref en or Castle Party Festival.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
It would be great to warm up some of the genre legends like Lacuna Coil, Within Temptation, Draconian, The 69
Eyes, Sirenia, etc.
9. Whom not?
Can't name any so disliked artist not to play with.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Of course, we have suffered from it and still there is a little bit of it, especially when you play in a new place. I
guess that it is something you need to get used to, because these are powerful emotions, adrenaline. Many
experienced musicians are still feeling it.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Well, mostly these are the bands we’ve named as our favourites. There I can also add more mainstream bands like
Depeche Mode, HIM, Evanescence, Ghost.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Oh, I have to ask Kate. Fans usually approach her. (laughs).
13. What do you think of your fans?
They have a good taste (joke). Well, I am thankful to them. It’s good to be heard and appreciated.
14. What do you think of our site?
You guys do a great job by offering bands different ways to promote themselves. I found some interesting filters
like genre or country. I can see a great interest and belief in what you do.
15. Something to add?
Thanks a lot for the interview and spreading the word about us!
