Interviews: THE SAME RIVER
We have had the opportunity to interview the Heavy Rock band THE SAME RIVER from Greece. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or come out just like that?
When we start thinking about a name, was a period of great change for the four of us. That time I was reading Heracletus an ancient Greek philosopher that I admire and his famous quote “No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man" feel the more appropriate for the circumstances. So, The Same River vision was born...
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Art is not about genres. We play contemporary music instruments (guitar, bass, vocals, drums & synths) so the possibility to sound like we do is a very common thing. In other words, we didn't focus on a specific style but to express our emotions and thoughts through notes and words.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
I and Dimitris were close friends and the same holds for Fivos and Teo. We were looking to form a band with Dimitris so when I first met Fivos and start playing, he introduce us to Teo and the band became whole.
4. Each band member favourite band?
We love many bands, I can tell you some tunes we like in common. Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd from the classics, Idles, Slift, and Dry Cleaning from newer bands.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
That's a question I would like to find an answer to... Hahahaha! I don't have a clue man... Possibly all the influences from the outer world. A book, a song, a discussion, a moment or a period, or something that happened in life. It's a great mystery how the human mind works. Hope someday to find the truth. If there's any...
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gig was the "Live at the Blackbox" which is also our first EP. We can't wait to release the album and start gigging.
7. Where would you like to act?
A lifetime goal is Pompeii. Maybe the overall concept is at an ancient theatre. The vibes in a place like this are something beyond words.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
A place to bury strangers is a band that I suppose we can share a stage.
9. Whom not?
Don't know. I never thought about that and I probably never will. Music unites people.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Don't know any artist that hasn't been through this. Are a state of evolving and I can say that starts when you realize you're doing something that matters, something with an impact on other people. In my opinion, is like any other fear in life. If you embrace the fact that you're afraid and find the inner strength to fight back then there's no way not to be victorious.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
This certain period I would say Black Sabbath, Donovan, and All Them Witches.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Every time someone asks to sign merch. Hahahaha I know is common... For me it's weird.
13. What do you think of your fans?
There's a bond with everyone who interacts with our music. Is like an oath of trust and we feel huge respect for them. When you are expressing your feelings and somebody else vibrates with that is something that is priceless. Thank you, people!
14. What do you think of our site?
Is a very friendly platform for finding music news and especially new bands and releases that catch my attention. Thank you very much for your hospitality and the chance to making interview. Hope the readers will find our perspective interesting.
15. Something to add?
For everyone out there be safe and take care!
Hope the new year will bring something you dreamed of.
