Interviews: SEVEN YEAR WITCH
We have had the opportunity to interview the Hard Rock band SEVEN YEAR WITCH from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?
Years ago, I watched a really in depth documentary about the Salem witch trials, gave me all kinds of
weird dreams that following night. I pulled the name from some events of that dream. It just stuck after
that!
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
The freedom of expression in rock n roll is what makes it so appealing. We can write a song that has a
grunge vibe, or a more modern/ alternative vibe, or a 70’s vibe - it all fits in the umbrella of rock n roll.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Spencer and myself (Seth) are brothers. So we’ve been together since day one. Aaron and us went to
high school together, but didn’t get close until we all graduated. Beau is from Georgia, so we met him
through a few mutual friends and bands. We always loved is guitar work, took a few years to steal him
for ourselves..
4. Each band member favourite band?
Aaron’s would be Soundgarden. Spencer’s would The Parlor Mob, Beau is Led Zeppelin and Seth’s is The
White Stripes
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
It can come from just about anything. Some are just simply music. No call to action, no deeper meaning,
no story being told, it’s just a song. Some times I love those. Some are rooted in personal experiences.
When I’m sad, I want to hop on a piano and write something while I’m in that headspace. We’re all
actually very competitive people, so a lot of inspiration is from us trying to out-do the bands we play
with
6. Where was your last gig?
One of the last shows was in Eatonton, GA. Fun bar gig at a bar called “Who Cares Bar and No Grille”
7. Where would you like to act?
The Tabernacle would be a dream stage for us. In Atlanta, GA!
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Although he’s gone now, Price would’ve been the ultimate dream to do a song with. There will never be
another like him. The riffage would be unreal.
9. Whom not?
We’ll steer clear of all the bro-country artist collaborations. The new wave bro-country genre feels very
temporary and plastic. And I love country music. But that stuff… hard pass
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
We all definitely get butterfly’s on those bigger shows. It’s hard not to be a little shook when you’re an
up-and-coming band trying to prove yourself to a sold-out room! My tip to beginners would be
PRACTICE, muscle memory is your best friend live. Confidence is everything as well.. fake it if you have
to!
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
So, so many. The classics like Sabbath, Zeppelin, The Who. Also some more modern stuff like Crobot,
Rival Sons, Jack White and Smashmouth
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
We signed a kids face after a show in Suwannee, GA. Still not sure what that was all about…
13. What do you think of your fans?
Can’t say enough about them. Some of the most committed and kind hearted people out there. We
treat them like family and they do the same. So much love for them all!
14. What do you think of our site?
Love what you all are doing, thank you so much for the interview!
15. Something to add?
Keep an eye on 7YW this year! Sky is the limit, we’re hopefully heading overseas and taking over the
world!
