Interviews: MAPS OF DARKNESS

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?

I wanted a name that would capture the essence of exploring the shadow parts of our nature - all the traumas we gather as we travel through our lives and how they inform the choices we make in the present moment.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

The emotional range that it offers.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

No. I reached out to Oleg after I saw the video for “Black Water” by Massface.

4. Each band member's favourite band?

Dmitry: it changes all the time. Currently, it’s Spiritbox.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

The nagging voice inside my head that wants to be heard.

6. Where was your last gig?

We haven’t played any gigs yet since we’re on two different continents at the moment.

7. Where would you like to act?

As in a movie/TV show? If so, What We Do in the Shadows.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Plini.

9. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Constantly. You just have to power through the first couple of songs. It’s smooth sailing after that!

10. What bands have inspired you the most?

Iron Maiden, David Bowie, Dream Theater

11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Let’s revisit this question after we play some gigs.

12. What do you think of your fans?

They’re the most badass people on the planet.
