Interviews: Virgins Of The Seven Seas
This is a new interview with the Stoner Metal/Doom Metal band Virgins Of The Seven Seas from Germany. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?
One day we visited, all together, the Desertfest Berlin and we throw band names in a hat (each band member 2 names) and decided by
tossing. Of course, all the names were cool, but Virgins Of The Seven Seas made it.
Once we saw a very trashy movie from 1974, ha, ha, a little shitty one but the name is worth its weight in gold...
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
I ́m not a fan of genres ...we play what we want and when we want. For me, it`s rock 'n' roll and this is the way.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yes, we all knew each other through other friends or work. We are lucky to have so many creative people around us, to be able to find a
friend to step in when it came to a lineup change.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Max (vox) - BLACK SABBATH with OZZY
Klaas (guit) - KRYPTOGRAF
Jamie (bass) - COLOR HAZE
Ommid (guit) - AC/DC
Flo (drums) - SWANS
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
When we create songs this mostly happens through jams. We are addicted to music, riffs, and grooves...That is our inspiration and last but not
least it`s all about the fun...
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gig was on the 22.10.2021 in the Fundbereau Hamburg(Droneburg Festival Redux). This was one for the books, sold out without
masks like in the times before the fucking virus.
Ah, and there was a last spontaneous one in December before the repeated lockdown. Shit, I miss this shit...
7. Where would you like to act?
We like and love to play anywhere, but we definitely prefer smaller club gigs. But to be honest, we did not hit any bigger stages yet, but we
are working on it and I am pretty sure that we will like it. To answer the question of the mighty SO36 in Berlin.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Hard to tell, as we really appreciate every band that we can share the stage with. So I cannot give any names here. Of course, supporting Black
Sabbath would be fantastic.
9. Whom not?
Everybody who is doing live music is keeping this alive, so we cannot tell. It is all about humans and of course it is more fun to share stages
and audiences with nice people that you get on well. But we would definitely not play with people that are Nazis, racists, homophobes,s or
sexists.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Of course, all of us have had some inner tension and nervousness before a gig. I think it would be strange if not. I personally love that
feeling, short before the first note is hitting the audience and when we start to play. I think that is the best way to get the stage fright into
positive energy. Finally, there is nothing that could happen, the worst thing is that you disappoint yourself and the audience with a less good
performance. The good thing is that there is another show coming to make it better.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
As I am listening to music all the time this is hard to answer. In the last years, I have listened most to Electric Wizard, Dead Meadow,
Mephistopheles, Woolfblood, Dopelord just to name a few. All of us are constantly checking all the great bands out there.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Sorry, I can't answer that.
13. What do you think of your fans?
To me, it is always a great privilege if someone tells me that he/she likes our music, Artwork, and so on. So I can just say thank you to
everybody that supports us and I love to do and play music for them.
14. What do you think of our site?
Breathing the core is a really good and well-done Platform to give credit to all these not-so-well-known bands all over the planet.
We really appreciate it being part of it and hope that you continue and extend your site.
15. Something add?
I really hope things develop and we will be able to play more and more gigs and to see some of you out there.
So long!
