Interviews: BOTTLEKOPF

This is a new interview with the Death 'N' Roll band BOTTLEKOPF from Poland. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?

The idea was born naturally. The band's name reflected the state we were often in. One day, while holding a bottle of alcohol, we came up with the idea to relate the band's name with this very important subject for us, and it ended up being a combination of an English and a German word, and we meant the neck of the bottle.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

The genre we play, that is the generally accepted death'n'roll, is the result of everything we listen to and what we like, however, our latest release (as it turns out according to the opinions of reviewers) also contains elements of thrash metal, which is very close to us. Overall, the idea of our music has not changed from the very beginning and we try to create pieces where you can stamp your feet.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

The band had big perturbations in the line-up and we knew each other with some of the musicians before, but with the current line-up, before the band was formed, we didn't know each other at all and maybe that's a good thing because as you can see and hear, we get along very well personally and musically.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Each of the band members has of course their favorite artists and there's a lot to mention here, but the most important ones we like are Unleashed, Sepultura, Entombed, Slayer, Napalm Death, Motorhead, Black Sabbath.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

The inspiration, of course, is the above-mentioned bands and what we listen to, and we listen to various music, not only metal. We believe that inspiration should also be drawn from other musical genres because each of them contains different elements, develops, and brings something new, e.g. old rock, blues, jazz, film music, electronics, and even ethnic music. In addition, our music is often a reflection of our emotional states, events around us, and stories that we think would be worth telling.

6. Where was your last gig?

We do not hide that recently, due to the pandemic and related restrictions, we have been touring little, which we slightly don't like. The last concert we played took place in March, in our home city in Katowice, in the Korba club.

7. Where would you like to act?

Wherever it is possible and achievable, also abroad. In addition to small club concerts, of course, we dream of large festivals such as Waken, Hellfest, Bloodstock, etc.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

It is difficult to define just one band. Certainly one of our favorites, and since each of us has a different one, it is rather impossible to define, we would have to toss a coin to settle it.

9. Whom not?

I don't think there is a band we wouldn't like to play with at the moment. Unless these are bands that promote extreme views and hatred.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Yes, each of us has stage fright, more or less, and there is probably no prescription for it, or some "super pills". It is a normal thing, resulting from emotions such as stress that accompanies us before a concert, or the fear of being booed by the audience. However, you can get used to stage fright, and even make friends with it, through frequent concerts and the support of the band members themselves and their loved ones.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Much was mentioned in question 4, but a few more can be added, such as Pantera, Megadeth, Machinehead, Exodus, Death, Testament. It would belong to mention here.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Such a situation has not happened yet, we hope that everything is ahead of us. We ourselves are curious how we will react to any strange request.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Since they listen to our music and like the band Bottlekopf and us, we think about our fans in superlatives and we hope that there will be more and more of them.

14. What do you think of our site?

Awesome.

15. Something to add?

Thank you for the interview and for all the support given to the band.
