Interviews: DAWN OF ASHES

This is a new interview with the Industrial Metal band Dawn Of Ashes from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?

Kristof: In 2001 I was laying on my bed watching Terminator 2. The horrific scene where Sarah Connor is in a dream about the apocalypse and she bursts into flames. All of a sudden the name came into my head. At that point, I knew that the name meant “beginning of the end”.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Kristof: I originally created Dawn of Ashes with the idea of being a strictly Industrial Black Metal project and then I started going to more Industrial clubs in the early 2000s where I was heavily influenced by bands like Wumpscut, Skinny Puppy, And Hocico. During the course of years, it was still in my mind that I wanted DOA to be more Metal. The band soon evolved into something else that became a hybrid of industrial and Extreme Metal.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Kristof: No. The band has always been my project and throughout the years I hired on others. I only have one original live member that has been in the group for over a decade now.

4. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Kristof: It depends on the album.

5. Where was your last gig?

Kristof: Poland at the castle party festival.

6. Whom would you like to feature with?

Kristof Bathory: Nine Inch Nails

7. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Kristof: A few members do. I have personally never had stage fright. I get a sort of high or boost of energy when I’m on stage. I personally love it.  I guess any advice I would give is to enjoy and find a place that makes you feel confident on stage.

8. What bands have inspired you the most?

Kristof: Nine Inch Nails, Dimmu Borgir, Fear Factory, old Cradle of Filth, old Manson, Ministry, Hatebreed, Hans Zimmer, and many more.

9. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Kristof: That’s a loaded question. I have had many buzzard requests. I remember throwing a piece of liquid latex that I ripped off my body. A fan later asked me to sign it and told me he was going to jerk off with it. He then asked if I wanted to spend the night. It was very awkward.

10. What do you think of your fans?

Kristof: I appreciate their dedication and I appreciate their support. Some are a bit more interesting than others.

11. What do you think of our site?

Kristof: To be honest I haven’t checked it out. I am overwhelmingly busy.

12. Something to add?

Kristof: I am looking forward to everyone checking out the brand new album on March 18th and looking out for the official music video for EMDR and also upcoming tour dates.
