Interviews: GANGS OF OLD LADIES
This is a new interview with the Death Metal artist GANGS OF OLD LADIES from Australia. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?
The band name comes from an old skit from the British comedy group Monty Python
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
I have been listening to metal since I was 11 years old as have fellow band members, one of our lead guitarists was in Death and played on the "Leprosy" album
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Our main songwriter Simon and I were attending gigs together and I had known David Andersson from Soilwork interviews and Rick from years ago
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Simon (Rhythm guitar /drum programming): Darkest Hour is one of his favorite bands
Jekyll (Vocals): Cradle of Filth or Death
David Andersson (Lead guitar): David listens to lots of music from Jazz to Domm death metal
Rick Rozz (Lead guitar): Rick listens to loads of old-school metal and rock
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Inspiration is really something that is hard to pinpoint, Simon plays some very unique riff styles and I am inspired by horror and the macabre. then the combination of this inspires the other two and it blends together
6. Where was your last gig?
As we live in three countries we don't do live shows, although David is traveling here in October with Soilwork so we will catch up then!
7. Where would you like to act?
Nowhere, to be honest, we enjoy making film clips
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
So far we have featured special guests on our music with members from Sepultura, Fleshgod Apocalypse, King Parrot, Nile, Bolt Thrower, Massacre, Dark Angel/Dethklok, and Strapping Young Lad
9. Who not?
We don't really care about other bands, we just do our thing.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Don't drink lots of water before a show lol
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
That's interesting as I loved Death and it's how I learned to sing and we now have an ex-Death member in our ranks. We listen to many genres so it's hard to pin down. You have to have a passion for what you are making though or it just sounds hollow
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Nothing unusual to be honest just merchandise and things, our fans are super supportive
13. What do you think of your fans?
Simon and I share lots of positive things people have to say about our music, we love the fact that people are finding joy in our metal, music is great for mental health
14. What do you think of our site?
Just yeah your site is great, anyone that is doing anything for metal is valuable in our eyes
15. Something to add?
Yesterday I spoke with Travis Ryan from Cattle Decapitation and can confirm he is doing a guest spoken word spot in one of our new tracks being made for the upcoming E.P. with Sliptrick Records
