Interviews: MALEDIA

This is a new interview with the Melodic Metal band MALEDIA from Italy. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?

The idea of the name “Maledia” came a bit by chance; we were looking for a strong contrast between music and wickedness, so we came out with a word pun in italian "Male" and "Melodia, so you got “Maledia”.

2. Why did you want to play this genre? 

Initially, we played a gothic-rock, then later we chose to abandon the female voice and gothic metal, to undertake a musical path that best suited the characteristics of the band or the music we are currently producing.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, we were already friends when we started this musical adventure back in 1999.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Bassist Maleun's favorite band is “Dark Tranquillity”, drummer Mechanix's “Cradle Of Filth”, while our singer and guitarist Dani's band is “Bring Me the Horizon”.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

The inspiration some times comes from unexpected experiences that crossed our lives and we immediately translate it to lyrics to explain the mood of that moment. Other times we just meet people that awake strong emotions in us.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was before the pandemic, we played in June 2019 at Legend of Milan (Italy) as an opening band for the Soilwork's concert.

7. Where would you like to act?

We'd love to play in some big summer Rock/Metal festivals in Europe or even in the United States.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We'd like to work together with "In Flames" or "Bring me the Horizon" like I said before these are the bands we look up to when finding inspiration.

9. Who not?

We don't want to mention any name we wouldn't collaborate with, we can only say that it's not very exciting to play with bands that play totally different musical genres from ours.

10. Have Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

No, we are quite comfortable on stage. You need to be relaxed, think positively, and be confident. The more you play, the more you gain experience and self-confidence.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

The bands that have certainly influenced us the most are “Bring Me the Horizon”, “In Flames”, “Asking Alexandria”.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

There have been many, but the one that I can certainly remember was when a fan asked us to make his girlfriend sing one of our songs on stage, the only problem being she was naked.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are what makes us what we are, supporting us in the good and bad times. We work album after album improving ourselves more and more thanks to the strength of our diehard fans. Special thank goes to them for all these years spent together.
