Interviews: Project Renegade
This is a new interview with the Metal band Project Renegade from Greece. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?
At first, when Ody and I had the idea of forming the band it was just the 2 of us. So we were always referring to the band as a "Project". That kinda stuck with us and later on, we added "Renegade" in order to give an idea of our mentality as people. Not wanting to conform to any trends, stereotypes, norms. So Renegade fit the part in order to show that.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Which genre? Hahahahaha! We just play whatever the hell we have in our minds. from groovy, bouncy songs, to breakdowns to big orchestral songs and everything in between and beyond! We just want to express ourselves through our music and being multidimensional personalities is something that is reflected in what we do!
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Ody, Jay and I knew each other from previous bands and our new member Philipp is an artist that we really admire and approach in order to recruit him for the guitar duties.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Pfffff, we listen to so much music that this changes every week so I am just gonna name a few of our all-time favorites: Slipknot, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Meshuggah, Hatebreed, Parkway Drive, Evanescence.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Mostly everyday life, since there is so much shit happening in the world. So much suffering, injustice, discrimination, oppression, all that really makes us angry and we need to release that anger somewhere. Also movies, music, books, comic books and paintings and even discussions we may have with each other.
6. Where was your last gig?
In our hometown, Athens, Greece, although we have played in many European countries before the pandemic and we will get back out there this summer!
7. Where would you like to act?
Literally everywhere! We want to play all over the world!
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
That's a big list but my top 3 are Jonathan Davis, Till Lindemann, and Maria Brink.
9. Who not?
I can't think of anyone I would not like to collaborate with.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
At some level, I guess everyone had at the beginning. My tip is don't try to beat it, but use it, bring it with you on stage, transform it into energy and release it!
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Mostly the 90s-00s metal scene. Korn, Slipknot, Limp Bizkit, Rammstein, Evanescence, In This Moment, Killswitch Engage, Parkway Drive, Architects, Meshuggah, Devin Townsend. We also listen to other genres like pop, funk, rnb, classical, EDM. If it's good music there's a good chance that we will like it!
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
I guess the weirdest thing was something I was not asked for. There was a guy in a fest who wanted to take a photo with me but never asked me for that. So he just came, grabbed me, popped his phone up, took the photo, and left without saying anything. Maybe he was shy, I don't know!
13. What do you think of your fans?
We really love our fans and we love making new ones everywhere we go. We like to hang out with them, chat, and make real connections. We have really missed our fans all those years of the pandemic not being able to tour and see them up close!
14. What do you think of our site?
You have a really cool community out there, and I really love the "Behind ....." sections you have because they shed light on stuff that other sites don't bother asking about. Keep up the good work and I wish you all the best and to grow bigger each and every day!
15. Something to add?
Keep a close eye cause our album "Ultra Terra" is coming soon and you will get a full-blown experience of new music from us! Stay safe!
