Interviews: SEVI

This is a new interview with the Heavy Rock band SEVI from Bulgaria. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that? 

SEVI: Well, before we established the band I was looking for an original nickname for my solo career. One day Rally (co-founder and bass player of SEVI, also my husband) suggested “SEVI”. I loved it from the first time, it was short and strong and years later we decided to use it for a band name, too. Recently I found some very interesting meanings behind the name and surprisingly they are all very close to our beliefs and goals as a band. It can mean #love #tough love #severe #kind #compassionate and you translate it from Latvian it means “Yourself” and on Cornwall dialect, it means “wild strawberry”. If you know our lyrics and music you will find all these meanings totally right for SEVI.

2. Why did you want to play this genre? 

SEVI: Well, I think this genre wanted me. It can’t be explained, I just fell in love with the power of the electric guitars and the drums and everything. Nothing else can compare to this and I feel amazing every time I sing on stage. Also, I was raised with that kind of music, my parents use to listen to rock and metal and somehow I feel comfortable with that genre since I was a child.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed? 

SEVI: Well, only me and the bass player. Music brought us together and then we found the others. We had many changes in the original crew but we are all one big family and I love every single person that was part of SEVI during the years. 

4. Each band member's favorite band? 

SEVI: Wow, tough question. I couldn’t answer that but for sure we are totally different in our tastes for music which I think defines the variety of colors that you can find in SEVI.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs? 

SEVI: Life! Everything that surrounds me. Emotions, people, situations, even a commercial on the TV. I can find inspiration everywhere.

6. Where was your last gig? 

SEVI: Last Saturday (March 19th ) in Sofia. We presented our latest video Hate You and we celebrated 12 years on stage. It was a blast.

7. Where would you like to act? 

SEVI: How about Wacken?

8. Whom would you like to feature with? 

SEVI: Well, I would really love a duet with Myles Kennedy! I love his voice and energy!

9. Who not? 

SEVI: Justin Bieber

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that? 

SEVI: Well, I suppose that we are all very excited and sometimes nervous before we go on stage. I don’t think that there is a living artist that doesn’t suffer from stage fights. But that just means he/she is passionate about his/her art and wants to give the best performance to the audience. I think that if we ever stop having a stage fight then we don’t feel the music anymore.

11. What bands have inspired you the most? 

SEVI: Well, I am trying to listen to very different kinds of music so I find inspiration in bands like Aerosmith and Alter Bridge but also in Foo Fighters, Tina Turner, or Sting.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

SEVI: To send him my stage socks!

13. What do you think of your fans? 

SEVI: I think they are amazing, wonderful, one-of-a-kind people that help me to keep on believing in humankind.

14. What do you think of our site?

SEVI: I love it! Keep rocking! I am a fan now!
