Interviews: Blood Of Indigo
This is a new interview with the Symphonic Gothic Metal band Blood Of Indigo from Canada. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?
It was a Spring afternoon in 2017 and the name came to me suddenly, while I was walking to a friend’s house. I love the contrast between dark and majestic, so when we married the two we got the name, “Blood of Indigo.” Eventually, the name took on a life of its own and I started writing lore around the music.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
We wanted to play this genre because we love the sound of heavy music when it can be felt through a dark, epic, and beautiful lens. It scratched an itch that we desperately wanted to hear more of in the Symphonic Metal genre.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yes, we did. Mariusz and I knew each other first and became friends through our mutual love of dark sounding Symphonic Metal and video games. Then we met Nathan through Facebook and we experimented with the track, “Resurrection.” We loved his orchestral work, so we asked him to join the project. Ever since we’ve become the best of friends.
4. Each band member's favourite band?
My (Alex) favourite band is Dimmu Borgir, Mariusz’s favourite band is Amon Amarth, and Nathan’s favourite band is Nightwish.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
We are heavily inspired by video games. Games like Bloodborne, Dark Souls, Legend of Zelda, and Hollow Knight inspired a lot of our songwriting. Especially the song lyrics that I contributed to the tracks.
6. Where was your last gig?
Blood of Indigo has never played live before, but when we do; we’ll be more than ready.
7. Where would you like to act?
It’s always been my dream to perform at Wacken Open Air. I wrote it down on a paper towel (because I couldn’t find any paper) before we formed Blood of Indigo and I’ve kept it in my wallet for years.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
I would absolutely love to do a feature with Charlotte Wessels!
9. Who not?
There’s nobody specifically that I wouldn’t consider collaborating with right now.
10. Have Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
I would say that we’re all very confident performers. The best tip I can offer is to take the pressure that you feel from being on stage and channel it towards your excitement. Accept the pressure with open arms and drive that intense energy into putting on the best performance you can.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
As a band, we are inspired by bands like, Dimmu Borgir, Epica, Nightwish, Dream Theater, Amon Amarth, Carach Angren, Arch Enemy, and Bloodshot Dawn. Personally, my favourite vocalist of all time is Angela Gossow. Listening to her taught me almost everything I know about harsh vocals
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Thankfully, our fans are wonderful and I don’t think we’ve been asked any weird questions from our fans yet.
13. What do you think of your fans?
We absolutely adore our fans. They are some of the most wonderful human beings on planet earth. We are eternally grateful for them. They have shown us so much love and support during the process of creating our debut album and now getting ready to release it to the world.
14. What do you think of our site?
Your site looks very professional and immersive. It’s great to see how much support you guys give to new bands who are building their fanbase. Excellent work.
