Interviews: Brake Loose

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?

I (Alex – frontman) use to race professional motocross back in my country Venezuela for more than 10 years, so I am a big adrenaline junkie. Therefore, the idea for our band name originated first of all in Spanish from actually experiencing losing my front brake in a race and almost killing myself. Then those two words were translated into English and it sounded really cool for all of us, so we decided to go with it.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Rock music is the best and most exciting and energetic music in the whole world to perform live. It has no other rival.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

No. I (Alex) am from Venezuela. We also have two Brazilians and two Irish in the band so we all met in Dublin!

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Alex (frontman): The Doors, The Cult, HIM, Danzig, Type O Negative.

Johnny (drummer): Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Rolling Stones.

Eoin (bassist): Thin Lizzy, Alice In Chains, Type O Negative, Metallica.

Tico (guitarist): Black Label Society, The Cult.

Dave (guitarist): Guns N’ Roses, Rammstein, Metallica.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

The Cursed Poets, The Beat Generation, Poe, and bands such as The Doors, Danzig, Type O Negative, HIM, Black Sabbath, Alice In Chains, Thin Lizzy, The Cult, Rammstein, Black Label Society, Guns N’ Roses, Aerosmith and Red Hot Chili Peppers. And most importantly our own delicious and creative minds!

6. Where was your last gig?

Sold Out show in The Workman’s Club Cellar – Dublin, November 2021.

7. Where would you like to perform?

The Whisky A Go-Go.

8. Whom would you like to perform with?

Preferably any proper rock/metal band baby.

9. Who not?

Not Applicable.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Yes, we all have. Simply do your stuff and don’t give a fuck about what other people think, simple as that.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

The Doors, Danzig, Type O Negative, HIM, Black Sabbath, Alice In Chains, Thin Lizzy, The Cult, Rammstein, Black Label Society, Guns N’ Roses, Aerosmith, and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

To lick my breast (Alex).

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are the most important thing we have and ever will be.
