Interviews: Dymbur
This is a new interview with the Folk Metal band Dymbur from India. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?
‘DYMBUR’ is a word of KHASI origin that translates into English as “Fig Tree”.
The KHASI people are an indigenous tribe, who live in the state of Meghalaya, which is in the
northeastern part of India. ‘DYMBUR’ - The fig tree symbolizes rebirth, progression, and
evolution, of victory after a struggle, Fresh leaves from old branches forming new shapes
defining one of nature’s basic laws, the ability to regenerate and grow anew after a dry spell.
We planned it since we wanted a name that symbolizes strength and the Fig Tree sets the
example.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
We started off by playing Djent/Progressive/Experimental Metal and had our influences from
bands like Meshuggah, Veil of Maya & Monuments to name a few. In November 2021, we
announced our shift towards folk metal since we wanted to blend metal music with our
traditional instruments and culture.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yes, we’re all from the same city.

Cornelius: Sleep Token
Mayson: Architects
Andreas: Skindred
Lancaster: Pantera
Gaudy: Dying Fetus
Sain: Dying Fetus
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Different situations in our society ignite different feels that we strongly feel about and hence
we want the message to spread through our songs.
6. Where was your last gig?
It was in a city called Kolkatta in India, 2020. Then we decided to change the genre and we’re
currently busy writing our new songs at the moment.

None
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
A few of the band members did experience it. Breathing exercises will help to beat it.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
We all have different bands that inspired us individually. Bands like Veil of Maya, Architects,
Pantera, Dying Fetus, Sleep Token to name a few.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Honestly, we haven’t experienced any weird situations with a fan. I guess it might happen
sometime soon. Lol…
13. What do you think of your fans?
Ohh!! They are so supportive and we never expected to gain support from a few
international fans as well, they bought our merch and our debut album even though they’ve
never seen us live. We must say these guys are loyal!
14. What do you think of our site?
Very informative, it’s a good site to discover new upcoming bands as well.
