Interviews: Junction 28
This is a new interview with the Rock band Junction 28 from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?
Choosing a name is always difficult. When we came up with the name, our style was completely
different. It was actually an old member of the band that came up with it. Junction 28 was the
turning on the motorway we all took, to get to the rehearsal studio.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
We were originally a hard rock band and there were so many bands doing it. When the pandemic
hit, we thought about what we could do differently. We started taking influence from Bring me the
Horizon and Linkin Park. But we didn't want to mimic or replicate what they did, we wanted to
take the concept of synths and have them set the scene like in the movies.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Dick has been the glue that brought the band together. I was in a band with him many years
before and Ben was in the band before I joined. Kit joined on guitar before switching to synths
but Dick knew him in college. Gary is the newest member but feels like we have known him for
years.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Honestly, it's hard to decide just one, as it changes every week for us. But gun to head if we had
to choose one to only listen to for the rest of our lives.
Craig - Linkin Park
Dick - Nirvana
Ben - Machine Head
Kit - Deftones
Gary - The Beatles
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
We mainly take inspiration from life. We could be walking down the street and hear a beat in a
building site, or just something in passing. Sometimes it's a life event and it's the only way to
express how we are feeling.
6. Where was your last gig?
Rock Bottom Events in Maidstone, Kent, UK
7. Where would you like to act?
Download Festival, Rock in Rio, Ally Pally, Camden Underworld, Rock am Ring, Wacken
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
That's a tough one. I guess Courtney LaPlante from Spiritbox would be pretty awesome.
9. Who not?
There's no one we wouldn't want to be featured with because our style is very
versatile and draw influences from the experiences we have and the people we perform with.
10. Have Any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
I think it's
good to have nerves. It makes you appreciate what you are doing more. We always have a little
bit, but once you get through the first song you know you're exactly where you need to be.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
We try to see what's current whilst staying true to what
influences us. We each have very different influences and believe this is reflected in each
member's styles.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
A guy came up to us after a show and
was like "Guys I live near you can I come back with you guys." and we were like "erm sure" he
now comes to most of our shows.
13. What do you think of your fans?
We are so grateful for them. The support we get really means so much to us. There are fans that
we see at every show and they have become part of the band singing along in front of the
crowds.
14. What do you think of our site?
We like that there is a lot of variety for people. It's a great
platform to discover new artists.
15. Something to add?
We would just like to say thank you for taking an interest and taking the time to get to know us. We
hope you like what you hear and hope to see you at future shows
