Interviews: LionSoul
This is a new interview with the Space Metal band LionSoul from Italy. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?
We came out with it after some discussions, we wanted a name that expressed pride and power enclosed in the largest container of intimacy that is the soul. There’s no need for an outward symbol or armor, the essence to be a Lion has only one dwelling place, the soul
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Because we wanted to do something Roaring, Horny, Majestic, Fast, Cosmic & Doped. We obviously started paying tribute to the bands that put some electric shock in our musical growth, now we are on the path to surprising ourselves.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Me (Ivan) and Aurelio met each other years before when we were playing with our former bands then twelve years ago, during a bad period when I didn’t want to sing anymore, Aurelio jumped into my life ad told me “what the fuck are you doing here?
Let’s go and get a band with me” We had a few riffs “hidden in the attic” and then…
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Ivan: Queen
Aurelio: Judas Priest
Giuseppe: Wormwood
Francesco: Megadeth
Nicolò: Ulver
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
The legend tells that an Android coming from outer space gave us the rights of his song ready to be used but the unofficial version is that we have been passionate mostly about both ancient Greek and Egyptian history, Science Fiction and the 80s pop culture. Most of our themes came from what was represented in a book or a film and then find meaning in something real like a sort of reworking of what in turn inspired various authors and directors from which we took the cue.
6. Where was your last gig?
It was in Milan at Legend Club for the Loud & proud festival, last October
7. Where would you like to act?
To be honest, In Mos Eisley Cantina, the fact is that Wherever there are people who make us feel at home, but if some of these people were in Madison Square garden we would be fine anyway.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Too many
9. Who not?
Too many
10. Have Any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
The fun fact is that we never have time to think about what happens on stage because we have not finished laughing at what we said the minute before being on it and this is also our simple tip for beginners: find always the right people to share the stage, we crave it more than anything else, the bigger the better.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
See answer number 4
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Aside from asking to play more?
I can talk about a weird thing that happened on stage more or less 3 years ago with a “professional” photographer that went to me to take a selfie with his big DSLR camera while I was singing
13. What do you think of your fans?
We’re proud to have them in the Den, we have always had beautiful experiences with our fans, even when sometimes we do everything to make us forget, especially on social media, but when we play live it’s always a big party
14. What do you think of our site?
Oh, absolutely professional and well designed.
