Interviews: Threnody
This is a new interview with the Death Metal band Threnody from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
I, Sean, and Todd were sitting in homeroom class when we were in high school looking through a thesaurus under the word death. We came across the word threnody. We liked it and named the band.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
In the late 80s, we were into lots of thrash-type stuff. Huge fan of Slayer. Then we heard bands like Carcass and Obituary and that was that. We wanted to play death metal. It was the most
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Todd, Rich, myself, and Sean went to high school together. We met Bill through Sean. Each of us had an interest in playing music so we started a band.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
I can only speak for myself at this point but I don’t have a favorite band. I personally have listened to different kinds of music throughout my life. These days I don’t even listen to lots of metal. If I do it’s usually the old school stuff. But if I was forced to choose a band from back then, it would be Carcass. They had such a gross sound and their lyrics were interesting. A little beyond the splatter that was going on with lot of other death metal bands at the time.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Same as any musician I suppose. Just something we’re wired to do. A form of therapy or self-medication.
6. Where was your last gig?
That was so long ago I have no idea.
7. Where would you like to perform?
Anywhere would be a blast but probably not a possibility. The majority of us are old heads located in different cities within the U.S. and our singer lives in Wales.
8. Whom would you like to perform with?
It would be fun to play with some of the old bands we used to play with. Our friends from back in the day. I could only imagine how that would be now.
9. Who not?
Morrisey. I dislike him and his music very much.
10. Have Any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Not really stage freight for me. The best thing I feel to overcome being concerned about playing live would be to be confident playing the songs. Practice till the point of being able to not pay attention to the song to play it. Know it like you know how to breathe.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Carcass, Autopsy, Entombed, Obituary
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Can’t say really. Fans don’t talk to bass players that much.
13. What do you think of your fans?
I think they’re great and have excellent taste in music.
14. What do you think of our site?
I like the site, it has a lot of bands to check out.
