Interviews: OneFromTheNorth
This is a new interview with the Industrial Metal artist OneFromTheNorth from Finland. Check out the interview and follow the artist on his FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?
It just came out. It's related to Finland as a northern country and I'm proud of it and a proud Finn. As basically I'm alone in the band, it was a simple choice. For me it’s also the music first, then the person. So that is why - OneFromTheNorth.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
That's a good question. I've always listened to different music and different genres. When I was young, I thought that it would be cool if someone combined electronic music and black metal, and the idea is from there. On top of this, I've always wanted to make things a bit different regarding music, so it was a very natural way to start the band and make music that sounds OneFromTheNorth.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
I'm alone in the band itself, but there is a lineup for the upcoming live shows. It's a privilege that I'm surrounded by such good musicians and people.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
There are a lot of different bands I enjoy listening to. But let's put it this way; When In Flames is releasing a new album, I'll always listen to it asap. I've been listening to In Flames for years and years, and I really enjoy their guitar parts and melodies. But it is a tough question.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Everyday life and music I listen to. Making music is a perfect way to escape reality and other pressures in life. It's just in my blood. I don't know what I should do if not write music. It's also about getting your work out there so that people would hear it, it's always great to publish some music.
6. Where was your last gig?
OneFromtheNorth has not done any gigs just yet. I'm focusing on releasing music and getting it heard. We've been rehearsing tho, so live shows are on the horizon, so to say. I've been playing in bands for years and done a lot of live shows. Also, my bandmates have been on stages in the past a lot, in fact, a lot more than I have, so when there is a time to hit the stage, we are not there for the first time.
7. Where would you like to act?
Well, why not the main stage of Wacken.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
There are a lot of different great artists, and honestly, I cannot name only one. This also depends on the song and the atmosphere. But let's say, for example, Jonathan Davis from Korn. He is a great vocalist with a unique voice.
9. Whom not?
Well, if someone is an idiot and a moron, I would not do any kind of cooperate with such a person in general.
10. Have any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
I did at some point, but I learned years ago that if you're putting only 70% out of you on stage, people will see it, and the execution will be halfway, and it will look stupid. But If you put 100% and let it go, that will look great, and that will work. Don't be afraid. And remember to practice! If you practice a lot and know what you're doing, that will help, and you don't need to worry about that. People will recognize it.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
For instance, Iron Maiden. They are such a great band with a good and relaxed feeling. That is something where I want to aim; have fun with friends. When it comes to music, I've always admired bands who are following their own thing, and there are a lot of good examples. But let's say Korn; it is also a good example here, they followed their own thing that is inspiring.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Unfortunately, I don't have anything specific in mind. Apparently, all the fans have been quite normal during the years, haha!
13. What do you think of your fans?
I love the community and fans of OneFromTheNorth. They are extremely nice people with a lot of support. Fans are also of the main reasons for making music because it is great to see if someone likes what you're doing. And I believe I can speak with many artists' mouths here.
14. What do you think of our site?
Just great! It is more than important that here are sites like yours to raise up smaller bands as well, just like OneFromTheNorth! Keep up the good work and people who read this, don't forget to support the site! They are doing a phenomenal job!
