Interviews: ARREALHUE
This is a new interview with the Atmospheric Black Metal band ARREALHUE from Chile. Check out the interview and follow the band on his FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or come out just like that?
Arrealhue is a word that was used by the ancient warlocks of the end of the world previous to fly. Is a part of a
long tradition of sorcery in the south of South America, and is a word coming from two languages: Spanish
(‘arre’, a word to make some animal walk) and Mapudungun (‘alhue’, that means ‘spirit’)
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
In general, Mal Cristiano as a composer had participated in diverse projects, experimenting with Death metal,
Doom Metal, and Black metal. Also, he is a big admirer of folk metal and folk music in his country. In search
of a music proposal that gathers all these styles, he found atmospheric black metal on a trip to the mountains in
2017 and decide to focus the project on this style of music.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yes, the members had participated in various bands and gigs in which Mal Cristiano had participated directly
or indirectly.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
In general, we have a lot of influences. Some members like some thrash bands, other black metal bands like
Emperor, Dark Funeral, and Immortal. Death metal bands like Nile, Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, and Death listen among the members too.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
The songs are in Spanish. Are an attempt to grasp the darkness of this part of the world, contained in ancient
legends, myths, and oral tradition. Besides, the lyrics are a philosophical reflection of that darkness, identity, and brutal landscapes.
6. Where was your last gig?
From 2016 until now, we were focused into develop musical, conceptual, and visual issues, so gigs and
shows had been postponed for now.
7. Where would you like to act?
We dream to perform our proposal in big festivals like Hellfest, Partisan, Extreme obzene or any festival.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Haha, that’s a dream too! Definitely with the bands that we admire, especially black metal.
9. Whom not?
With bands out of the metal genre in general.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Yes. All members of the band suffered stage fright, especially when we begin to play. What we can recommend
for beginners is to rehearse a lot until you can feel in your bones that you enjoy what you are playing. That feeling
is the sign that you dominate what you are doing, so when you play live, the music will flow without obstacles.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Arrealhue music is inspired by bands like Borknagar, Mgla, and other atmospheric black metal like Ruins of
beverast, Akhlys, Imperial Triumphant, Mare Cognitum, Aosoth, and so on. In Chile, our biggest influence is Uaral
and Sol sister.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Ahahaha… a simple paper with our autographs.
13. What do you think of your fans?
We definitely love our fans; they are the ones who inspire us to do this extremely difficult effort to make music in a
third-world country.
14. What do you think of our site?
We find it great, all support and care for your site is gold for us
15. Something to add?
Only to thanks to Breathing the core and its followers for this interview, and invite all to hear Arrealhue and enjoy
it!.
