Interviews: The Last Element
This is a new interview with the Metalcore band The Last Element from the Netherlands. Check out the interview and follow the band on his FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?
It just came in a way, but we were looking for a name to describe what our music is about. It's about merging our hearts and finding common ground. Finding the last element, that makes us whole.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Well, I think we’re not just playing a genre, we are playing multiple genres and we love bending genres. But yeah for me personally (Jasper) I started listening to rock when I was 6…. It’s in my blood. It’s a way for me to let out all my emotions and it’s a blast doing live shows with a lot of energy and power.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
No, we didn’t actually! Robert & Jan started with a prior band they were looking for a new vocalist and Jan reached out to me when he found me on youtube, he didn’t even know we were in the same country at that time! Later Noah joined when we we’re looking for a new guitar player. We just found each other and it became a perfect fit. What are the odds?
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Pfff all of us have similar and different bands we like. We don’t play favorites, however, we can give you a little scope: Queen, Linkin Park, Michael Jackson, Bring Me The Horizon, Beyonce, I prevail.
This is why we don’t stick to one genre
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Life does, our life events we translate to music. We’ve been through difficult stuff, we all go through it. And music is a perfect way to let out all the emotions that come with it. We use heavy songs to let out the anger, soft songs to let out the sadness and energetic songs to let out the happiness. It’s all there we just want to keep everything real and close to our hearts.
6. Where was your last gig?
We had a nice live podcast that we joined in Tivoli, which was pretty cool the videos are online go check it out!
7. Where would you like to act?
All around the world!! We want to see you guys and come play your hometowns.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
There are so many good bands these days, we would love to meet all of them! A really cool package would be a show with Bring Me The Horizon and maybe Nothing More, we would go see those 2 play together for sure, then maybe add us to bill 2!
9. Who not?
No we don’t hate!
It just should fit, don’t want to scare of the audience if they love pop or bore them if they want the heaviest of heaviest bands.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
Guess we all have nerves at a certain point. I would say it’s always there for a bit. The cure? Just go up on stage and give it your all, after a couple of songs it will start feeling natural. Then play some more shows and more and more. Tada! Cured.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
That’s a hard one, for me personally I started listening to Marilyn Manson and Nirvana first, a bit later I heard bands like Sepultura, Soad, Slipknot, and Limp Bizkit, it all blew me away. I think Nu-metal has always kept a piece of my heart as well. But then again, when I listen to Freddy of Michael then I think holy shit I wanna sing like that. Each band has influenced me in parts of my life. I remember listening to Ill Nino non-stop and just thinking I wanna sound just like that, later that turned to BMFV and then Linkin Park then Seether it just continued, and still to this day there are so many bands that just inspire. I guess I will always be inspired as long as I keep writing new music.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
To marry her… I’ve had internet proposals and the likes. But honestly, it was sweet 2 and unfiltered. I just think you don’t really know me, you just know my voice a little and the music I write. Marriage should maybe be based on the person I am. But in all fairness, I don’t like to judge and put labels on things, to each his or her own
13. What do you think of your fans?
We love them !! Each of them is great. Honestly, it’s amazing seeing people vibe to our music. Can’t help to feel flattered when they reach out to us to tell us they like what we do, that our songs speak to them.
I don’t think our fans know how much it means to us when they keep listening and interacting with our music.
14. What do you think of our site?
Yo, it’s cool I think it’s awesome that you guys support the little guys as well! Every small step helps!
