Interviews: Eternal Drak
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Thrash Metal/Groove Metal/Black Metal band, Eternal Drak from Canada. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?
We wanted something that represented power and strength, the dragon (drak) as a mythical animal has
represented this power in many civilizations, that's why we chose it. Although Drak by itself seemed too
simple to us, so we added the “eternal” because we not only wanted to represent power but also to
endure. This evolution of ideas arose little by little with the help of alcohol in several meetings.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
In addition to generating an explosion of energy with its rhythm, thrash is also lyrically a constant
rebellion against the established. We were young people wanting to rebel and thrash offered a way to
vent energy and express ourselves. We also felt a lot of affinity with black metal because of its anti-Christian principle. These two genres laid the foundation for Eternal Drak's style, over time the style
evolved on its own with minor modifications.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
The band's primary lineup in the 1990s was the Martinez brothers and two friends of several years. This
lineup lasted for many years but currently, only one member of the original lineup prevails, Andres
Martinez (Drakar) guitars and voices
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Drakar: Kreator
Francisco: Metallica
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
The theme has varied from album to album, social criticism, anti-religion, death, mythology, and
obscurantism, but there is a constant in everything that is reflected in the lyrics and it is the criticism
against pre-established assumptions, entrenched ideas. that have been implanted in us and that restrict
our freedom.
6. Where was your last gig?
Bogota Colombia with the American band Inquisition in a huge theater.
7. Where would you like to act?
Two places we would like to play:
AFTERSHOCK FESTIVAL in California and Festival del Rock al Parque in Colombia, this one is the
biggest free metal concert.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
We would like to share the stage with In Flames because of the music they make and Metallica for all
that they represent.
9. Who not?
Many bands think that they should only play with other bands that have similar styles and philosophies,
but this is not our case, for us, the variety in rock & roll is immense, and being able to share the stage
with any artist who plays rock or metal is an honor
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
At first, it was always a challenge to get on stage, sweat, trembling, and fear for each of us. We believe
that the best way to overcome this fear is to practice a lot and be sure that what you do is done well.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
There are several bands that have inspired us in different ways, the band In Flames for the good melody
they make without losing their heaviness, the band Kreator who through so many years of experience
have managed to maintain their essence and energy, the band Dimmu Borgir for the atmospheres they
give to their dark lyrics, among others.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Once in a show in Colombia after playing 2 young girls gave us a picture of them naked and ask us to
send them a picture naked also, they gave us their address to send the picture, at that time there was no
internet to send pictures easy.
13. What do you think of your fans?
Fans are the objective of what we do, we create our music thinking the message we create is going to
get to someone in some were. That’s why we always ask fans to give us a follow or a like to what we do because that’s how we know we have got someone.
14. What do you think of our site?
Breathing the core is a great way to communicate with bands and fans, it’s a bridge we all can cross.
