Interviews: Novacrow
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal band, Novacrow from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?
We literally just picked out two random words from the dictionary. CrowNova sounded weird so we went
with Novacrow instead.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Whilst we all have very eclectic tastes, we naturally gravitate to metal in the end. Plus, we like pissing off
all the metal elitists out there!
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Kitty and Jonyx were already dating when Kitty decided to form a band. They met Freddy in their hunt
for a bassist in the area.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Jonyx - Avril Lavigne, always puts me in a good mood! Can’t listen to Sk8er Boi without
some serious air guitar
Kitty - Type O Negative, I wish I got to see them before Peter Steele passed, such an
incredible voice
Freddy - Strapping Young Lad, I’ve been listening to them since I was a strapping young
Lad - get it? *finger guns*
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
It could literally be anything really. We all like films and books and video games, so a particularly good
plot might inspire a song. Other times, it could be a bout of depression, or maybe a hilarious idea – who
knows.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last show was at Bloodstock festival. It was possibly one of the hottest gigs we’ve ever played. The
temperature was pretty high as well 😉
7. Where would you like to perform?
Literally anywhere and everywhere. Just give us some instruments and an audience of people who just
wanna goof around and we’ll do it.
8. Whom would you like to perform with?
We would love to play with someone like Skindred one day – not just because we’re all fans, but because
we think we’d be a great match! Otherwise, maybe someone super over the top like Lordi or even GWAR
would be awesome!
9. Who not?
We’ve been hearing lots of bad things about that Adolf Hitler guy, so we’re gonna have to go with him.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
I personally have never really suffered from stage fright. The other guys might have from time to time,
but if so I’ve never noticed. I think it really helps to be on stage with other people who you can sort of
relying on if shit hits the fan. If you’re a solo act, however, then I guess I suppose you’d just have to embrace
the fear – let the adrenaline work for you.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Hard to say, my influences vary greatly as time goes on. Personally, if I had to pick one I’d say Devin
Townsend – mainly because his catalog of work is so vast and varied, and it’s all amazing.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Whilst we definitely have our share of weird and creepy fans, I can’t recall them making any weird
requests. I’m sure it must have happened, but it’s usually them approaching us with weird anecdotes
really.
13. What do you think of your fans?
They’re dope. It gives us all immense joy when someone comes up to us and tells us how much our music
meant to them. We always try and make sure all our fans are heard when they approach us because
they’re all worth it
14. What do you think of our site?
I think this is the second time you’ve featured us so you must be doing SOMETHING right 😉 Joking
aside, it’s great – we need websites like this to help spread the music around. So, thanks!
15. Something to add?
First off, well done for reaching the end of this read – I can’t imagine it was an easy task. Secondly, please
check us out on www.novacrowofficial.com and pre-order yourself a copy of our upcoming debut album
‘Look At Me Now’. We can SCIENTIFICALLY GUARANTEE that you’re gonna love it. As a little
taster, you can check out our two singles ‘Hollow Armour’ and ‘Day Break’, both taken from said album,
out on YouTube or on any streaming services. And Finally, we hope to see all of your beautiful faces out
on the road soon!
