Behind The Tracks: ASSIMILATOR - Like Whispers Singing (Single) (2022)

“Like Whispers Singing” started off originally with a drum and bass groove that built into a chromatic chord progression. We scraped the intro in favor of its current form and moved the dominant/dissonant progression up two octaves to open up space for the other instruments. Once we did that the whole song came together. It is inspired musically by Cattle Decapitation, Death, and Kreator and lyrically by Cannibal Corpse and Macabre.

The song looks at a serial killer's life through their eyes. A content reflection on par achievements and future endeavors. It comes from a frightening and dark place but sits well against large open choruses with melancholic tones. It is one of our favorite songs on the album for sure.
