Interviews: Infection Code
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Death Metal/Noisecore band, Infection Code from Italy. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE. Questions answered by Gabrielle.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
The idea for the name was created by our old bass player. It was a full nu-metal -era and
there were many bands such as Fear Factory and Godflesh and we had this kind of musical
influence. The word “Infection” is contamination and the word “Code” is something
cold, anti-human, like machinery. Anyway, we planned it because we wanted some
of the original and weird to identify our purpose of music.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Essentially because we love it. We are grown as musicians listening to this genre. Bands such as
Ministry, Fear Factory, Godflesh, Red Harvest are sources of inspiration but also Thrash
Metal and Hardcore. We love Sepultura, Kreator, Voivod, Strapping Young Lad, Death,
Carcass. We have a large range of music that we love it.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
We have played in many other bands before the Infection Code and our local metal scene
is very small so we knew each other.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Gabriele, the singer loves Sepultura, Neurosis, Marillion, Kreator, Napalm Death, Pitch
Shifter, Godflesh, and many others. Ricky the drummer loves Ministry, Korn, Carcass,
Godflesh, Slayer, Chris our guitarist listens to Carcass, Slayer, Amon Amarth, Testament,
Exodus while Dave the bass player, follows Napalm Death, Nasum, Cripple Bastard many
things about the noise core scene and grindcore scene. Anyway, we love many musical
genres, especially in the metal scene.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Our source of inspiration is many things in our daily life. We write a song when
something bad or tragic happens in our life. For example in “Alea Iacta Est” our last
album, we have written many songs about our dark feelings born in negative
circumstances. There are some sources of inspiration about society, global
warming, the war, or the last about the lockdown. All good sources of inspiration but in this
album, we have focused our lyrics on other features. More personal peculiarities.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gig was in Turin some days ago.
7. Where would you like to act?
We would like to act at a big festival or to open to some great international band.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
We would like features with many bands. For example, Godflesh, Ministry or Carcass and
Kreator, and many metal fests. As Wacken or Summer Breeze or our local metal festivals
are right for us.
9. Whom not?
We don’t love to share the stage with power metal bands or folk metal bands because we
don’t follow this kind of musical genre.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat
that?
During our career, we have made 300 live shows over and many times we have played in
unstable and poor situations but we have played in great stage and professional venues
also. It happens to suffer fright or insane situations during a show and it depends on many
elements. Only a tip: don’t stop during a show. Whatever happens.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
We have many bands as sources of inspiration and we have changed many tastes during our
career in musical influences. Anyway, there are always bands that will remain our
guide as Ministry, Godflesh, Sepultura, Slayer, Neurosis, and Napalm Death but the list
could be longer because we change our taste often.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
We have quiet fans and I don’t remember about it.
13. What do you think of your fans?
Our fans are quiet people and absolutely they love the heavy metal music with visceral
passion. We have few true fans but we are happy about this condition because our fans
are stronger than all and they are totally dedicated to the infection.
14. What do you think of our site?
Breathing the core is a great source of information and news to know the underground
metal scene and a good instrument to spread the infection of metal music through the
young because we need a new generation and new audience and young music lovers.
15. Something to add?
