Interviews: The Rekkening
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal/Punk band, The Rekkening from Canada. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for
the band name, you plan it or
come out just like that?
Trasee Lynn (Lead Vocals): THE REKKENING band name
came out of an abusive
relationship Trasee Lynn was in,
the guy used to call her his
Reckoning, he broke 3 of her ribs
one day and she picked up the
kitchen table and threw it at him,
told him to get out of her home and
said now I’m THE REKKENING.
Travis (Guitar Player answers below): Lol, ask Trasee; she is the Rekkening.
2. Why did you want to play this
genre?
Trasee Lynn (Lead Vocals): This genre has always
spoken to my soul. It helps me get
out my angst from the trials and
tribulations of everyday life.
GoReDzilla: I have always leaned toward the aggressive and rebellious side of music. My first exposure was bands like Venom, Black Flag, Slayer, Napalm Death, The Clash, Iron Maiden, Dio, Motorhead, Sabbath, etc. The power and ferociousness that came across in the music and most importantly what they were saying with the lyrics instantly hooked me. It opened Pandora's box of ideas, ideology, music, and eventually musicianship I never could have predicted.
Travis (Guitar Player answers below): Cool guitar!
3. Did you know each other before
the band was formed?
Trasee
Lynn (Vocalist) & GoReDzILLA are
the main representatives of THE
REKKENING. Trasee Lynn met
GoReDZilla at a guitar clinic and
showed him some songs she had
written on her acoustic guitar
(Selena), he heard something in
the songs and helped Trasee Lynn
to create THE REKEKNING. Travis
came on board a few years later
and has now been an important
part of the band for about 8 years.
We always have revolving
drummers lol.
Travis (Guitar Player answers below): Nope, met on craigslist and auditions specifically to join the band.
4. Each band member's favorite
band?
Trasee Lynn: Alice Cooper
GoReDzilla (Bass/Creator answers below): Dillinger Escape Plan, Slayer, Living Colour, Bodycount, Motorhead, are a start lol.
Travis (Guitar Player answers below): Probably Frank Zappa for me
5. Who or what inspires you to
write songs?
Trasee Lynn (Lead Vocals): All of our songs have
been written about a real-life story
that Trasee Lynn has gone
through, her inspiration is to
empower our fans to stand tall no
matter what life throws at you!
GoReDzilla (Bass/Creator answers below): All of our songs have been written about a real-life story that Trasee Lynn has gone through, her inspiration is to empower our fans to stand tall no matter what life throws at you!
Travis (Guitar Player answers below): Want cool places to play cool guitar
6. Where was your last gig?
GoReDzilla: An crazy underground punk show in Montreal pre-pandemic.
Travis (Guitar Player answers below): Marche à Coté in Montréal
7. Where would you like to
act?

play Europe, Brazil, Argentina, etc.
GoReDzilla: We have always wanted to play Europe, Brazil, Argentina, etc.
Travis (Guitar Player answers below): Some big outdoor festival somewhere.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
GoReDzilla: Alice Cooper would be a dream come true on so many levels.
Travis (Guitar Player answers below): Snarky Puppy, the Aristrocrats, Michael Lee Firkins
9. Whom not?
Trasee Lynn (Lead Vocals): We would never
pass on an opportunity to play!
GoReDzilla: Opening for a K-Pop band probably wouldn't go well, well for that audience anyways, we would still kick the shit outta the place though lol We would never pass on an opportunity to play!
Travis (Guitar Player answers below): Eh, I would sell out in a heartbeat
10. Have any of you ever suffered
from stage fright?
Trasee Lynn (Lead Vocals): Not really Any
tips for beginners on how to beat
that? You just have to believe in
yourself, or picture your audience
naked lol.
GoReDzilla: The first show I played the singer quit a week before the show so I re-wrote lyrics to the 7 or 9 songs we had and said fuck it let's do this shit! First time on a real stage and all of a sudden singing and led the band. My knees were shaking for the first 3 songs or so. We emptied the venue of “the regulars” and the punks of the street heard the craziness and started filling the venue. The 80 yr old security guards didn't have a clue of what a mosh pit was or what to do about it. Priceless!
Travis (Guitar Player answers below): Only at the beginning. Play your first show and you will realize it's not that bad!
11. What bands have you inspired the most?
GoReDzilla: In a lot of ways every band I've ever seen, you never know where or how inspiration or a new approach will come from in music and expressing yourself.
Travis (Guitar Player answers below): 100s upon 100s. Special mentions to SRV, Joe Satriani, Tommy Emmanuel, and Dizzy Gillespie
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan
has ever asked you for?
Trasee Lynn (Lead Vocals):
GoReDzilla: Trasee
Lynn was asked multiple times to
sign women's breasts lol and she
did.
Travis (Guitar Player answers below): "Do I have spots on my skin? I ask because I'm part reptile and I will burn in the sun"
13. What do you think of your
fans?
Trasee Lynn (Lead Vocals): Our fans are amazing! They
continue to support us and always
engage in our performances.
GoReDzilla: I have met so many and have actually become friends with a fair amount, especially in the local scenes. I adore people connecting with what we do, it means everything and justifies all the hard work, sacrifice, and investment you make. Our fans are amazing! They continue to support us and always engage in our performances.
Travis (Guitar Player answers below): Super cool people
14. What do you think of our site?
Trasee Lynn (Lead Vocals): Absolutely Stellar! It’s an honor
for us to be included. Thank you.

Crazy good times just trying to go through them and hearing so much wild music. Absolutely Stellar! It’s an honor for us to be included. Thank you.
Travis (Guitar Player answers below): Super cool site.
15. Something to add?
Trasee Lynn: I have always leaned
toward the aggressive and rebellious
side of music. My first exposure
was bands
like Venom, Black Flag, Slayer,
Napalm Death, The Clash, Iron
Maiden, Dio, Motorhead, Sabbath, etc. The
power and ferociousness that
came across in the music and
most importantly what they were
saying with the
lyrics instantly hooked me. It
opened a Pandoras box of ideas,
ideology, music, and eventually
musicianship I
never could have predicted.
