Interviews About Albums: Legendarium - Death's Hand In Yours (2022)
In this new interview, we sat down with the Netherland Metal band Legendarium to ask some questions about their new album "Death's Hand In Yours".
1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?
This album is really a big step in our evolution as a band. We're incorporating a bit of death metal influence in our sound and we're using harsh vocals for the first time. Overall the goal was to make this album meaner, heavier, and more varied than anything we've done before, and I think we succeeded.
2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?
"Death's Hand In Yours" was just the title of the first song at first, but since the album deals a lot with human behaviour in the face of certain doom and immense evil it seemed like a fitting title for the album as a whole.
3. Which one is the composer of the CD/EP?
Laurence wrote all the music and lyrics, with Stefano writing a lot of his own drum parts. Jared improvised his saxophone solo.
4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
I think the opening song "Death's Hand In Yours" is the best song on the album, and is the most representative of the ideas we were exploring while making the album.
5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?
Stay strong and true in the face of evil, no matter how great or powerful it may be. Never stop fighting.
6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?
"All will be forgotten dust from king and knight to knave
No matter how much gold you carry to your grave"
"Noble intentions swept away with lies and jest
A man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest"
7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?
Musically melodeath was a massive inspiration on this album, specifically "Clayman" and "Colony" by In Flames, and especially "Follow The Reaper" by Children of Bodom. Besides that, there are a lot of different bands who have inspired various parts of this album. Kvelertak, Entombed, HIM, Unto Others, Sisters Of Mercy, Running Wild, Death, and many more.
8. Something to add?
I'd like to thank everyone who helped make this album for their efforts and support. Timon for the amazing cover art, Stefano for the incredible drumming, Jared for his killer sax solo, and everyone who has been following the band all these years for their support. I love you all
