Interviews: RUINA

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metalcore/Metal band, RUINA from the UK. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE. 

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

I would say something really deep but at the end of the day, we nicked it off a bleed from within song. Great song to be fair.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Trends come and go and fashion is in an ever-turning change, but Metal is constant and will outlive all the rest.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Jase was my buddy and a massive supporter of the first version of RUINA and now he’s on stage with me playing the songs. Absolute hero. I’ve been friends with Chris since we had that first pint of Guinness together discussing how we can make the band so much better. We succeeded. Tom and Sam came into the picture in the last few months and it already feels like they’ve been family for years.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Harv: Bullet for my Valentine

Jase: Asking Alexandria

Tom: Blink 182

Chris: Currents

Sam: Metallica

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Without sounding egotistical, I. Our songs are focused on my mental health and the battles that we can all relate to. It’s my therapy and it empowers me.

6. Where was your last gig?

The last gig we played was Yeovil, great show and a packed-out club

7. Where would you like to play?

We’ll play anywhere as long as there are pints and greasy food nearby haha!

8. Who would you like to support?

We’d love to support Bury Tomorrow at some point.

9. Who not?

Any of these industry-crafted bands dress up like punks but get their mum and dad to shell out £10K for funding. Not very punk if you ask me…

10. Have any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Sure sometimes! It’s normal. Anytime you feel like that, just remember what you’re really doing this for, and that’s to have fun. Fuck what a crowd thinks, just do what you love with your mates, and whatever happens!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Bullets have always been huge for me, ever since I was a kid. For our new record, they’ve certainly leaked in, but would be wrong not to mention Bleed from within. Truly underrated band and one of, if not the best modern British metal bands going.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

A free t-shirt maybe? Like come on man I’m ordering the cheapest pint at the bar, I’m not made of money haha! Pay for merch! Support local bands.

Whoever they are and if they exist, we love em

We love and respect anyone that dedicates any time to promoting and writing about smaller bands and championing them along the way. You do a good thing here!
