Interviews: HELLRAZOR
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Hard Rock/Metal artist, HELLRAZOR from Canada. Check out the interview and follow the band on his WEBSITE.
1. Where did you get the idea for
the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Ex- Hellrazor guitar player and
I were sitting in my car back in 2004 discussing a new project and name. He suggested "Hooligan" and I replied, "what about Hellraiser, but spell it with 'razor' instead?" We both laughed at the spelling and decided that was going to be the name.
2. Why did you want to play this
genre?
It was the genre that I listened
to growing up. I didn't care for grunge music in the 90s and continued to listen to those bands from the 80s. HELL RAZOR isn't trying to be anyone but HELLRAZOR. 80's metal bands are certainly influential but there are also many other bands throughout the
last 20 years there are too.
3. Did you know each other before
the band was formed?
The guitar player and I were in
previous bands together before HELLRAZOR. The drummer hooked up with us in 2005.
4. Each band member's favorite
band?
Each member as in me? I wouldn't
say I have one favorite band because I have many. However, if I had to pick one band that is my go-to, it would be Judas Priest
5. Who or what inspires you to
write songs?
Nothing in particular. Usually
starts with a guitar riff. Covid certainly gave me lots of time to write though.
6. Where was your last gig?
In late
2019, I re-formed HELLRAZOR with some local musicians I knew. HELLRAZOR was just about to release "Hero No More" in mid-2020, so we lined up a ton of shows and were working on a Canadian tour when COVID hit and pretty much shat on everything. I personally
played shows with a few different bands between 2011 and 2018. The industrial metal band "Essondale" was my homestay for a few years. The last show we played was a small "festival" in 2017. It was utter chaos and totally unorganized. We played the first night then the police came and shut it down the next day because it
was completely illegal.
7. Where would you like to act?
I'd like to do tours through Japan.
Maybe some touring festivals throughout Europe.
8. Whom would you like to feature
with?
I'd like to hook up with Battle
Beast or Powerwolf. I love both bands and although our styles are a bit different, I think it would be fun.
9. Whom not?
HELLRAZOR has no enemies.
10. Have any of you ever suffered
from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
The only tip I have is to be concerned
about the opinions of people that matter. Learn from mistakes on stage and practice in areas that need improving.
11. What bands have inspired you
the most?
No one in particular.
12. What's the weirdest thing a
fan has ever asked you for?
I don't know "weird" is really
subjective.
13. What do you think of your fans?
HELLRAZOR fans are fantastic, they've
been very loyal and dedicated. Every day, a new fan sends an email saying they were referred by someone they know. It's a nice feeling for sure!
14. What do you think of our site?
Never heard of you until I connected
with Zach. It's always nice to connect with new communities and networks. Who knows what opportunities may arise.
15. Something to add?
Thanks for reaching out and letting
HELLRAZOR be a part of what you're doing.
