Interviews: Arcanica

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Progressive Metal band, Arcanica from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

It's a mix of the words Arcana and Arcanic, we use esoteric themes and each song is directly relatable to a tarot card and an elemental symbol so it seemed fitting. 

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We didn't choose this genre, it chose us. But for real we listen to lots of different kinds of music and this is just what came together.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

I've known JT and Jeremy since my day as Surgeon, it was the previous project we were all involved in. This project has a different feel so it made sense to take on a whole new name. Andrew used to be in Thrashole and was introduced to us via Nick from Empress and Lor, it's a small world.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

Scan Boltron - Leprous

JT Wieme - Enslaved

Jeremy Q - Gojira, Sky Harbor, and Plini

Andrew Campbell - Pallbearer. Conan, or Hangman’s Chair

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

The initial spark comes from the need to be creative or “artistic” but generally, when words come into play they are more of a cathartic or therapeutic release for life struggle and trauma. This particular EP was inspired mainly by the separation of me and my 20-year life partner.

6. Where was your last gig?

It was the 1st leg of our world tour, Allentown PA

7. Where would you like to act?

Everywhere

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Weird Al

9. Whom not?

I hear Celine Dion is kind of hard to work with. I'd rather keep things smooth so not her.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Sorry, thats not really a thing here.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Early Black Sabbath, Gojira, Leprous

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

A single pubic hair

13. What do you think of your fans?

They should shower more
