Interviews: EXPUNGED
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Old School Death Metal band, EXPUNGED from Canada. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it or did it came out just like that?
J.S: Ohh I have a feeling W.D. had been sitting on that one for a while!
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
J.S: While we're open-minded to all kinds of music collectively, the thing that brings us together is that sloppy death metal rumble!
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
J.S: Surprisingly not! We've been living in the same city our whole lives and yet never ran into each other!
4. Each band member's favorite band?
J.S: It's hard to choose, but I'll play it safe and go with Iron Maiden. Can't speak for the others though.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
J.S: Lyrically there's plenty to be inspired from daily life experiences. While there's always someone out there who's got it worst than you, Life can be harsh so a great way to vent is through the power of music.
6. Where was your last gig?
J.S: It's been in our collective dreams so far as we haven't played live yet.
7. Where would you like to act?
J.S: I'm sure that Touring Europe and playing a few festivals would be a fun and enriching experience 'cause after all, life is meant to be lived to the fullest!
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
J.S: There's so much great death metal coming out during the last few years but it would be fun to play with the bands that we've done splits with like Immortal Force and Cruel Fate.
9. Whom not?
J.S: I don't like going around trashing other bands 'cause music isn't a competition for me but I would hope to avoid playing with stuck-up, selfish, mean bands.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
J.S: Only once in my life has that happened and it was because I hadn't played a live show in a few years. It's not stage fright really; it's more the thought of having technical difficulties, breaking a string, blowing an amp, etc.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
J.S: For Expunged songwriting, I look to the obvious like Nihilist, Entombed, Dismember, Carnage, and the lot but also to classic heavy/speed metal and crust/dbeat. Guess it shows in the music most of the time.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
J.S: Lots of weird autograph requests which is fine, like signing a car or toys.
13. What do you think of your fans?
J.S: Anyone who goes out of their way to support us deserves a gold medal! It's an honor to have people that legitimately care about the music we make.
14. What do you think of our site?
J.S: Well we appreciate the time you took to feature us.
15. Something to add?
