Interviews: Kamizol-K

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Hardcore band, Kamizol-K from France. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1 . Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it or came out just like that?

Kevin: the name means straight jacket in french. And the K at the end of kamizol is referring to a Key. the k of the straight jacket somehow. We thought of this band name coz we wanted to deal with the craziness and psychiatric topics. In the craziness, all realities are possible so it gives a lot of things to talk about.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Kevin: For the aggressivity, the violence but also the groove. Hardcore is a very groovy genre. And it's also straight to the point. But we also like to mix it with metal or thrash.

3 . Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Kevin: 3 of us are from the same family (lionel (singer) is my bro and Gaetan (guitarist) is my bro in law). So the project started like that. Then we met Nicolas (bassist) and Marie (singer) They both put a new dimension to the band. Recently Anthony joined the band (drummer). He actually put a lot of aggressivity and creativity into this project.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

kevin: dir en grey (for their infinite creativity)

Lionel: if I have to choose, I would say UPON A BURNING BODY. Great groove, good breakdown.

Marie: I like Dir en Grey too and The Gazette…

Gaetan: I don't really have a favorite one. They all have good songs, some great, some less so. But well, according to my Spotify ACC, it seems that it's The White Buffalo! In more aggressive music, I would say upon a burning body!

Nicolas: suicidal tendencies

Anthony: I can't choose honestly there are too many bands who inspire me. But actually, on the hxc style, I would say: Knocked loose

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Marie: Everything that is mystical, supernatural, esotericism, and a touch of a hard and harsh life experiment

Lionel: I am so much inspired by movies, kind of psycho, dirty, and trash gore Japanese movies. Strange stories, insane… But yeah I am also really inspired by Corey Taylor, who is for me, the best writer in metal music. Everything has to be understood between the lines, I love that.

6. Where was your last gig?

Kevin: it was in our city. In Lyon (France). Our first show in 2023 and it was amazing!

7. Where would you like to act?

Kevin: Hellfest at the warzone scene and all international festivals. We would love to export our music out of France and share it with the audience.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Kevin: Paul from Desolated

9. Whom not?

Kevin: justin bieber?

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Kevin: to me, it's a mix of adrenalin and fright. A few minutes before starting the show I always have a strange loneliness feeling and I think it's caused by this adrenalin. But once the first chord is played added with a big hit on the kick, everything is just positive massive energy! I would just say to beginners, breathe a moment, find ur band members and get their energy. U r a band and u know ur songs! It will kick ass!

Anthony: i feel sleepy before shows, I'm just taking a nap before going on stage to fix it.

Lionel: I always have some fright before the show, when I have too much, I just try to not talk so much with everyone, and concentrate on myself. But you know that when you put one foot on the stage, you kick everything and forget all. 

Marie: I Always have a little fright, but at the last moment I repeat to myself that, that is what I want and I must assume

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Kevin: I’m not sure but I think it depends on our mood. Sometimes we will listen to hxc so we will be influenced somehow. I think of knocked loose for instance. Even if we are not really the same kind, they really give us so much inspiration.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Kevin: Actually no one asked me anything strange fortunately lol

13. What do you think of your fans?

Kevin: I think fans are the most important when you are making music! When you see people headbanging on your songs, or when u get greetings from them telling you that ur songs rock, I think it's the best satisfaction ever. I will never be enough thankful to people who enjoy and support our music. Thank u all.

14. What do you think of our site? 

Kevin: I think the site is pretty cool! There is so much information about bands and the band's list is huge! It's a good source of music to discover new bands. Go on like this guys, all bands need people like u who works for the pleasure of music itself. Thank u again!
