Interviews: Lenax
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Black Metal solo project, Lenax from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the project on his FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, did you plan it or came out just like that?
It's actually a play on my last name
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
I have been interested in Black Metal for years. That said it took me quite some time to understand the emotional elements of the music. Once that clicked for me, it gave me an avenue of expression.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
This is a solo project with collaborators.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
While I have a hard time nailing down a favorite band, I would say 1349 or Immortal are in heaviest rotation for me.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Occult themes, dark aesthetics, science fiction, and horror.
6. Where was your last gig?
It's been far too long! Lenax likely won't see a ton of stage time, though I'd love to do a show for the album release, and perhaps a few festivals shows in 2024.
7. Where would you like to act?
To act? That's a great question! Probably a one-off character in a science fiction franchise such as Star Trek.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Ideally, at our level I would feature with local bands that I love and admire. Nashville locals Storm Ritual come to mind, as do a band from Knoxville called Summoner's Circle.
9. Whom not?
I think the only bands I could see not playing with would be ones that have offensive political affiliations.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
Absolutely! I say the best thing to do is just get up there. Small gigs with bands you are friends with are great, especially house shows. That is a great environment to cut your teeth on playing live.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Lifetime I would have to chalk up to Led Zeppelin and Metallica. I will be that guy who says the first three Metallica albums inspired me the most, largely because I was just old enough to know about them by word of mouth before they were on MTV and well before the internet became an outlet for music news. For Zeppelin, it is both the wide diversity in their sound, plus the massive impact they have had on rock and metal music.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
The shirt I was currently wearing!
13. What do you think of your fans?
Absolutely amazing. I have fans that love and adore my music, having released only two songs so far, one being a cover! That is a great start for a new project.
14. What do you think of our site?
I love the way you categorize bands by genre. There is so much to explore here in finding new music!
15. Something to add?
If you're a musician and you are wondering what if, or if you want to play an instrument and haven't tried, just get at it. Pick something up, learn from a friend or youtube, and just start your journey. How that pans out will depend on you alone after that, but you have to take the first step!
