Interviews: NECRONOMICON
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Thrash Metal band, NECRONOMICON from Germany. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just
like that?
At the time our drummer ( Axel ) came up with the idea; we wanted a name that
wasn't a solo " cliché". In retrospect, however, I would no longer favor the name,
because we had and have no way to legally protect it.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
We originally come from the punk scene. Bands like GBH, Discharge, or Exploited
shaped us. However, I was always a big fan of bands like Slayer or Metallica, which
formed in the early 80s. So the way was clear for us right away. A mixture of punk
and thrash metal was totally our thing. Necronomicon was born.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yes. Axel, Lala, and I formed our first band called " Total Rejection ". And we already
knew each other from our school days together. We were real friends and still have
contact today. Jogi joined us later and we founded NECRONOMCION.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
There is one name that stands for all of us: Slayer.
I think I can say that this is probably the biggest "loss" in the thrash scene, that
Slayer retired. No band has pulled off their style as rigorously and had this
incredible recognition effect as Slayer. I bow my head in reverence.
er, I have been a huge KISS fan since childhood. And I always will be.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
It is above all this desire and this great feeling to make music. To make music and
to meet a fan base that loves and respects you. I think there are only a few things
that are as fascinating as making music and living this music.... standing on stage
and seeing the fans. Wow; this is a great gift.
6. Where was your last gig?
The METAL GATES FESTIVAL in Bulgaria on our European Tour last year.
Great…….
7. Where would you like to act?
I'm happy with what I've been doing for decades....namely, being a pattern and
playing the music I find so fascinating and love....and being somewhat successful
with it. I would do it the same way again.
Necronomicon is my baby and I do EVERYTHING for this band.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
With Wattie Buchan of Exploited. I would love to do a song with him and be on
stage together.
9. Whom not?
I don't want to mention any names; that wouldn't be ok either, because music is
always a matter of taste. one likes this, the other this. That has to be respected.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how
to beat that?
Of course; I still have a little " grumble " in the pit of my stomach when I go on
stage. Once that's gone, you should stop.
To all beginners: enjoy this feeling. And don't be afraid of mistakes, because they
are part of it. We are not machines and the fans appreciate that.
I imagine 100% perfection on stage to be horrible. That has nothing to do with live
music anymore.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
As I told you: Exploited, Discharge, GBH AND….. Slayer!
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Oh, I'll take it as it comes. You are so much in your own world that you sometimes
shift reality a bit. Therefore, there are actually no "stupid" or "bad" questions. What I
don't like is when I'm asked about other bands at my concert and have to answer a
lot of questions about them in the interview. That is respectful.... but it happened
only once on one of our Russian tours.
Without our fans and their opinion we musicians would be nothing.... always staying
loose is my motto.
13. What do you think of your fans?
The fans can carry your music outside. And that gives me the greatest respect.
14. What do you think of our site?
The prospective customer wants to get information quickly. Well done guys.
15. Something to add?
I hope that with the album "Constant To Death" I have hit the nerve of our fans
again and that they will love the album. This would be the greatest gift for me.
Thanks for the interview
Freddy.
