Interviews: Wyoming Young And Strong
On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Progressive Stoner Metal/Doom Metal band, Wyoming Young And Strong from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Wyoming Young and Strong is a tribute to a young man named Wyoming that we learned about from some old dude in a bar years ago. Wyoming’s world was destroyed by alien gods and that sent him off on a journey hopping across time and dimensions. We just adapt the folk tales about him to song form. We’ve obviously never met him but we think he would appreciate the style.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?
We’ve all loved heavy music our entire life. Now we’re just trying to play a little slower and a lot louder.
3. Did you know each other before the band
was formed?
Josh and Josh have been playing for 20ish years in various projects. We’ve known Jason the whole time but finally convinced him to join up about a year ago.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Josh – Neurosis
Jason - Mastodon
Josh – Russian Circles
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
The entire inspiration for this band is the
adventures and folk tales of our extra-dimensional brother Wyoming. We’ve written
songs about politics and feelings long enough. Today we are driven to write folk
songs for a different time as well as a different dimension.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last show was at Southgate Roller Rink in South Seattle (technically white center). They do metal on Fridays. Bands play in the middle of the rink while people skate around you. It's one of the best shows in this city. Aside from the fact that you get a little dizzy. The sound engineer is Greg from https://www.greedtoneaudio.com/, the dude is a legend. We played with the Museum of Light and Great Falls. Both are punishingly great bands.
7. Whom would you like to feature with?
The Melvins. Who would not be honored to share a stage with King Buzzo.
8. Whom not?
We’re down to play with anyone. No nazis or assholes.
9. Have any of you ever suffered from stage
fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?
We’re probably not the best people to give advice to beginners. Maybe “get over it, and go rock.”
10. What bands have inspired you the most?
Black Sabbath. But that’s probably everyone’s answer.
11. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever
asked you for?
We had a fan ask her dad to take a picture with us while she held her stuffed animal. We assume it was her dad. We hope it was her dad. Kinda awkward.
12. What do you think of your fans?
Well, there’s the one from the previous question. And then the other one joined the band on bass so…. Hard to summarize them as a group.
13. What do you think of our site?
It's great that you take the time to support so much music. There are a lot of people out there making music. A lot fewer people trying to support them.
14. Something to add?
We add Cholula to just about everything. We recommend the same to all of you.
