Interviews About Albums: Satanic Tea Co - A Celestial Beating (2023)

In this new interview, we sat down with the Canadian Death Metal/Old School Deathgrind band Satanic Tea Co to ask some questions about their upcoming album "A Celestial Beating". 

1. What can you say about this new EP/CD?

Our upcoming EP “ A Celestial Beating” is an ode to old-school Deathgrind with influence from Dying Fetus and Suffocation. Most of the lyrical inspiration came from my upbringing in a very religious cultlike household. The terrible things people do in the name of religion and me escaping those surroundings.

2. What is the meaning of the EP/CD name?

“A Celestial Beating” is a complete rejection of the Christian God and taking control of your own life.

3. Who is the composer of the CD/EP?

Scott Oliphant wrote and recorded all instruments, and I (Crucifix) wrote and recorded the vocals.

4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?

My favorite track is Septic Savior. It’s probably the most ruthless track off the ep. I think it really shows the direction the band is moving in.

5. Is there a special message in this EP/CD? If there is what it is?

Believe in yourself, Burn your own path. Revenge.

6. Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share?

“Today is a great day to climb up to heaven and kill god”

7. Which inspirations have been important for this album? Like musically or friends, family, someone you'd love to thank especially?

Musically we are heavily influenced by old-school death grinds like Cryptopsy and Dying Fetus with a bit of new school sprinkled on top. You’re banging your head.
