Interviews: DEFIANT
Ladies and gentlemen, today we have the pleasure of interviewing the hard rock band Defiant from the USA. With their explosive live performances and hard-edged sound, Defiant has been making waves in the music scene. Follow them on their Facebook page for updates on their latest releases and tour dates.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
We wanted something short and to the point conveying our feelings of disappointment with the political climate in our country but also conveying a theme of independent strength.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
I am not sure we fit like a puzzle piece into anyo one genre but a blend of all our influences. Nothing was planned, it's just the music that we write naturally. We try not to create limitations.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
We did not. We found each other through "Help Wanted" ads of sorts.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Albert: Grateful Dead
Joe: Misfits
Paul B.: Kiss
Paul C: Metallica
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Our songs typically come from something historical in nature, literature or a reaction to something happening in the world.
6. Where was your last gig?
Millersville, Pennsylvania
7. Where would you like to act?
We want to play throughout the United States and beyond if we are lucky enough to grow to that level.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
To play with any of our influences would be an absolute dream.
9. Whom not?
We don't like to call any acts out by name but just anyone with an ego or that isn't sincere about their music.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
You're not human if you don't have a little anxiety before hitting the stage. Don't rush it until you know your songs like the back of your hand. Being confident in the show you put on will be the best thing to combat stage fright.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Honestly, the bands that inspire us the most are the ones that work their asses off to make their dreams come true. They act humble and supportive while knowing they have what it takes to succeed. You don't need to look to established mega-known bands to find inspiration. Many times they are right in your backyard fighting the same battle you are. Look up a band called Eternal Frequency for a perfect example.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Permission to get our logo tattooed on themselves.
13. What do you think of your fans?
We have some of the most loyal fans a band could ask for. We truly feel they are more family than a fan.
14. What do you think of our site?
We love it. So much content and supporting so many artists.
15. Something you'd like to add?
