Interviews: Suffocate Faster

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Hardcore band, Suffocate Faster from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Funny story. I don’t hear well apparently…a band used the lyrics “suffocate the bastards” and I heard suffocate faster. Oops.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I always felt the most inspired by this type of music, it gave me a positive outlet for some of that teenage angst.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Some of us had played together in another band or just knew each other from high school. Now with the second coming of the band, we’ve got some newer guys that I’ve known over the years from the music scene.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

I spoke to everyone in the band and we all agree on the same two: Slayer and Crowbar.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Oddly enough I saw John Carpenter perform songs from his films a few years ago. It was the most inspired I've ever been to create music. But mostly I'm inspired by the metal/hardcore genre in general, constantly pushing the limits of the instruments and sound.

6. Where was your last gig?

Columbus, OH. Felt like a hometown show to an extent. Lots of familiar and friendly faces.

7. Where would you like to act?

I'd love a chance to play at some European Festivals. It's the best atmosphere and time.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

I've always wanted to write songs with Clint Lowery of Sevendust. I love his style, voice, and approach to songwriting/guitar.

9. Whom not?

Please don’t make me play with Danzig.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

It always feels a little weird, some days are better than others. Just remember people aren’t looking as closely as you’d think. Do your best every time even though you might not feel like it.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Original heavy metal and heavy hardcore pioneers; Hatebreed, Machine Head, Crowbar, Meshuggah, Unearth, Zao.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I guess clothing items like underwear or socks lol

13. What do you think of your fans?

All fans are great, whether die-hards or just hearing the band for the first time. Without them, there isn’t even a show. Been very lucky throughout my career to have enough people care to support whatever project I've been a part of.
