Interviews About Albums: Dez Dare - Critical Mind Dump (2023)
In this new interview, we sat down with the UK Punk Rock artist Dez Dare to ask some questions about his new album "Critical Mind Dump".
1. What can you say about this new EP?
The EP is out on May 5th via French Legends Six Tonnes De Chair. It is limited to 350 copies and there is a special advanced copy on yellow + black marbled transparent vinyl, opaque magenta vinyl, and good o' black. The artwork is by illustrator MALMALL.
2. What is the meaning of the EP name?
The EP is a transitional release, bridging the recent album 'Perseus War' and my next album. The next album will head hard into the existential realms trailing far from the sociopolitical angst of 'Perseus War'. Before any transformation or entropy can occur, there needs to be a release from the mind, of the remaining thoughts. Like a dream, bad, good or otherwise, the brain needs to go through a Critical Mind Dump to progress.
3. Which one is the composer of the EP?
Me, Darren Smallman. Only me.
4. If you had to pick one song, which one would you pick?
Uncanny Velocity because of the messed up bass synth junk in it ☠️ 🎹 👾.
5. Is there a special message in this EP? If there is, what is it?
It is about transformation and release and the preparation needed to evolve.
6.Are there some lyrics that you'd love to share? Have them all...
CMD OK!
A mess of wires, tipping out of my head
Some connect, some stripped, most lie
Phased out of time, masse tries to drag me in line
Speeding up, clashing out, fuzz + static scream hi
Sparks shimmer in my brain fog
Lighting up for a moment I
Dim regression to the static light
CMD OK!
Count to 4, scream + scream till you’re raw
Get my head straight, crooked days upon my wake
Shimmer + sparks lie, waking pressure I try
Apathy washes over days, clarity consumes my ways
Uncanny Velocity
Uncanny velocity
Creeping across my spine
Uncanny variants
Displacing time
Uncanny vessels
Marching, guiding, mine
Uncanny velocity
Crushing my strides
